Chloe looked up in shock.
"He was buying me?" It never even occurred to her that she would ever be chosen, there were so many better, prettier and well behaved dogs this place had to offer. She just couldn't understand why, then it occurred to her "Maybe he wants to look all big and strong with a wolf by his side." It was the only explanation that even made remotely sense to her.
Out of the corner of her eye she saw the woman slowly opening the door to her enclosure. Chloe turned and slowly approached the exit, still unbelieving that this was actually happening.
The worker approached her and clipped a thick leather lead onto her collar and started to lead her towards her new 'owner'.
As they started discussing the details a plan started to form in Chloe's head; all she had to do was pretend for a little while longer and then she would be free, finally free.
A tug on her neck informed her that he was ready to go, taking her with him.
She was lead outside, the outside that she hadn't seen in so long, smelt in so long. She took a deep breath in, even if she was taken back it was worth it, the fresh air around her was worth it.
Her abrupt stop brought the attention of the boy, as he looked down on her, smiling. "Good to get out isn't it." Chloe stared at him blankly. Point taken, he continued walking until they arrived at a silver jeep. He opened up the boot and she cooperatively jumped up. He let go of the lead, but before she could even think of escaping, he closed the boot.
He climbed into the passenger seat and started talking with the driver, while Chloe looked out the boot window, watching as the countryside flew by.
Next thing she knew the car slowed down and pulled into a driveway. Chloe immediately looked out the side window to catch a glance at the house.
It was a small house, nothing fancy or expensive looking about it, but not rundown either just normal.
They came to a stop and an unfamiliar women opened the boot and took Chloe's lead, "Hello there, awww who's a good girl" She said rubbing Chloe's head.
Chloe mentally rolled her eyes and shook her head, causing the lady to laugh.
"She's so beautiful isn't she Liam"
He just nodded his head and walked over to the two of them. "Come on Mum, I'll take her, I know you have to leave soon."
"Oh, I completely forgot." She exclaimed before running off and after a while of fumbling with her keys she ran indoors.
"Come on girl lets go." Walking towards the still open door.
They stepped inside and Chloe looked around, the house felt very much like a home. It just had that feel about it, it just felt so comfy and cozy. It felt like a place she would be very happy living, too bad she couldn't, she needed to shift and soon.
While she was admiring the house, Liam closed the door behind her, and unclipped her lead, stroking her fur as he did so, and as much as she hated to admit it. It felt nice, like having your hair played with, soothing almost. That was until his Mother decided to interrupt.
"Well I'll be going now, you two be good, ok."
"Be good, the nerve of her" Chloe huffed, using the distraction as the perfect time to look around the house. She heard the door once again being opened and closed and soon after Liam came looking for her.
"There you are, come on I'll show you to my room." "Oh ya sorry you can't understand me, can you?"
He held onto her collar and pulling gently he showed her to his room. Once they were inside he let go of her and jumped on his bed. "You can sleep on the floor over there ok?"
It was kind of funny, how he expected her to understand, and even more so that she actually could. Purposely ignoring his words she walked over to the edge of the bed and jumped up onto it before curling up and looking up at him.
"No. Down. On the floor." He grabbed my collar and pulled me off the bed.
To see how long he could last, she jumped back onto the bed, dodging as he went to grab her again.
"Oh so you want to play that game, do you?" He teased. After a few attempts he eventually managed to push her off the bed and celebrated, triumphant. "Now I won so you have to stay down there ok." He told he a proud smile still on his face.
When the sun started to set, Chloe looked up as Liam finally got off his bed and followed him as he started to head downstairs. He took out some bread and after making a quick sandwich he poured some dog food for her.
She looked up at him, was he serious, did she look like a dog, but when he did nothing about it she reluctantly started to eat. It was disgusting, it was so bland and dry, but she kept eating, because she was hungry and she needed the energy.
They both finished fairly fast and with no communication needed they headed up to his room. He jumped on his bed and she curled up on the mat on the floor. She soon heard his breathing turn heavy and when she was sure he was fast asleep she jumped up onto the bed and curled back down. Savouring the warmth and comfort the bed provided.
