Chapter 3

She was in heaven, she must be. Overrun by sleep, Chloe snuggled closer to the source of her heat and comfort, only to feel it move. It moved!

Her eyes snapped open and she found herself staring night into Liam's face, she froze. How did she get in this position, she was at the other side of bed when she went to sleep. That was when she noticed an arm draped over her side, keeping her locked in place.

She would have to get out of here sooner than she thought.

Her fidgeting didn't go unnoticed as Liam slowly awoke from her slumber. Unsure of what to do Chloe closed her eyes and did her best to slow her breathing to a normal rate. She felt his arm tighten around her and a soft hand begin to gently stroke her head. He must have opened his eyes because she heard him murmur "Hey girl, wha, what are you doing here."

Now felt like the perfect time to open her eyes, thankfully he had sat up by now but was still stroking her fur.

"Now what are you doing up here?"

To try and distract him she licked his face and he started squealing, actually squealing. This went on for a good five minutes before Liam eventually managed to push her off.

Still laughing Liam announced "Come on then lets go have breakfast"

Breakfast went similarly to dinner the night before and when they were finished Liam got to washing the dishes. "So after this do you want to go on a walk?" He asked looking down on her.

She stood up and wagged her tail trying to seem as enthusiastic as possible. Now was her chance, her chance to be free.

They headed to the back door and Liam attached the lead to Chloe, much to her disappointment. However that wasn't enough to dampen her spirit, even if she was being treated as a dog, being outside was still amazing, and nothing could change that.

They headed into a forest and Chloe knew this was her chance. They got to a heavily wooded area and with no warning, she suddenly lurched forward, using all of her strength to break free. Liam let go of the lead with a curse and she was off. Free once again.

She ran, and ran, and ran. Breathing in the air around her, the freshness, the smells, the freedom. That was when she realised she had no idea where she was, she didn't know this forest. She made a sudden 180 and ran back towards the house at least there was a road there. A crunching of leaves stopped her in her tracks, she paused looking around for any possible danger.

"Here girl, where are you? Come on girl."

Chloe slowly snuck up behind him, making sure to stay hidden in the foliage as she observed him. Another sound caught her attention, an animal approaching. She sniffed trying to get a scent of what it was, but before she could it appeared right in front of Liam. A wolf.

She could tell from it's small size it wasn't a werewolf, that much she was thankful for, but still a dangerous animal nonetheless. A dangerous animal that was now looking at Liam like he was a piece of meat. Despite the fact she had barely met the guy, she couldn't just watch.

Before she could think twice she jumped out of hiding and tackled the animal, biting down on it's neck. It let out a yowl of pain and managed to shake her off. Rolling to her feet she stood in front of Liam and gave a warning growl. The creature gave a long look at her towering over it, debating it's options before slowly backing away, until it was gone from site completely.

Chloe turned to Liam to make sure he wasn't hurt only to see the human staring at her in shock. He was so defenceless and it was in this moment that Chloe decided to stay with him. Just for a little bit, it wouldn't do her any harm. Right?!

Author's note:

Do you think Chloe made the right choice by staying with Liam? Or should she have made a run for it?
