Can we be friends?

Lucy eyed him. "Sure" she poured him a glass she drank from and gave him the water. He drank from the exact spot her lips touch, only he knows but she didn't. She wasn't even focused on him.

After drinking, he handed her the glass and touched his stomach. "I'm hungry" he said.

Lucy walked past him after eyeing him. "Then go to your home and eat" she replied going back to her room, she took of the shirt and placed it on the bed. She was left with her bra singlet. Eric stared at her from behind, how can she be so comfortable with that in front of him?

Then she spotted her cellphone, she picked it and turned it on to see so many call she missed. Mostly from Daniel.

"I wanna taste your dish again please make me breakfast" he pleaded. "And I'd leave afterwards" he promised, she turned to him and stared still thinking if she should. Well, he helped her last night so she kinda owe him. "Alright" she said and dialed Daniel's phone number before heading to the kitchen. With the phone ringing she prepared the ingredients needed to make a good dish for her guest.

When Daniel picked up the call, he didn't give her a chance to speak and she gladly listened. "Where were you last night Lucy? We searched the whole place for you and for once I became so worried. You know you missed so many job opportunities last night, so many guest wanted to meet you but you were no where to be seen. Girl, you messed up..." He sounded disappointed. "Tell me what happened? Where are you?!" He almost yelled.

She looked at her phone as if it was Daniel.

"Talk Lucy"

"I thought you'd never ask..." She said while Daniel kept mute.

"I know I missed a lot but I had to leave, hope the party went well and the dishes were great" her tone wasn't so good but Daniel didn't ask because he knew she'd never tell him the reason.

"It did, but you left your things behind" he mentioned, she recalled yesterday and realized Edward was the one who took her home and Eric followed the both of them but how did Edward...

"I'll get it when I resume tomorrow. Hope you are doing fine. I left some food in the fridge. You can have that for breakfast" she said.

Daniel smiled. "That's so sweet of you my darling princess. Thanks" he appreciated.

She smiled and replied. "You are welcome, now go eat we'll talk later" she said and hung up the call, she continued with the cooking.

"Was that Daniel?" Eric asked because he had been by the door listening.

She looked his way and frowned. "Don't you know it's bad to eavesdrops on other people's conversation?" She asked. He turned around and left.

Eventually, the food was ready and she serves him on the plastic table she had and called him to eat. "Thank you" he said, she replied with a smile and left him to eat.

She went to the bathroom to take her bath and change. When she was done dressing, she walked out to find Eric no longer eating but staring at her picture that was framed to the wall. She took the plates and returned it to the sink in her kitchen. She took her bag and tossed her phone in it before heading back to the living room.

"Eric" she called out as she tied her hair into a ponytail. He preferred her hair down but didn't speak. Turning to her he saw she was ready to go out.

"Are you going somewhere?" He asked.

"Yes" she replied and walked straight to the door. "So it means you have to leave" she said.

"But you've not eaten" he mentioned. She frowned and lowered her gaze.

"Drinking water is enough" she said.

Eric walked forward to her, she was standing by the door. She looked up at him. He smiled. "You don't have appetite to eat"

She didn't reply to him and looked away. "You like meddling"

"Because I care about you"

She scoffed as if not believing. "I have to leave so walk out too" she said.

She opened the door and he walked through it, she followed him and locked the door. She walked past him and down the stairs, in a haste but he followed her. She didn't want to talk to him but she knew she couldn't avoid it.

"Lucy, where are you going?" He asked standing behind her and reaching to take her elbow but suddenly she stopped and turned around, causing her lips to brush his cheek. He looked shocked, she was too but was quick to recover.

"Do I have to tell you?" She asked, looking him in the eyes but he couldn't keep the contest going like Daniel. For the first time she found him cute.

"No, I just wanted to... Never mind" he said.

"I'm going to the orphanage, I do that on a Sunday" she replied not knowing why... Maybe it's because she found him cute.

"Can I go with you? I'm free for the whole day" he asked.

She changed her stance and crossed her arms, thinking while he stared at her curious to know her answer. He didn't want to hear NO but he expected so. He didn't know why she doesn't like to be with him.

"Sure but we are walking and taking the bus" she replied him at last.

Walking and taking the bus wasn't a problem at all, her conditions are fine with him. He nodded and took her hands but she jerked it off.

"Sorry" he apologized, he's already used to taking his little sister's hands when he's excited about the both of them doing something.

Lucy looked at him and shook her head. She took his hand and lifted it. "I wasn't against it" she smiled while he blushed. Not the first time but now that she smiled at him, his heart skipped a beat. He exchanged it and took her hands instead.

They left her neighborhood with so many eyes on them but they ignored until they were at the bus station.

When the bus arrived, he waited until she was in before he climbed in and she paid before finding a seat. She sat by the window while he sat next to her.

When the bus started, she turned on her phone and dialed Edward's phone number but got no response.

"Lucy" he mentioned her name and she looked his way. "Hmn"

"Can we be friends?" He asked.

She shrugged. "I don't make friends, I get close to people and with time I'll find out if they're worth being my friends. So the answer to your question depends on time" she said.

"Okay...but you can take me as a friend, you can call me when you need help and..." He met her gaze and saw she wasn't liking the conversation. "Can I save my phone number in your phone?" He asked instead.

"Sure" she handed her phone to him. He saw she had a picture of her with the chef uniform as the wallpaper. Seems she took that yesterday, she's beautiful by the way. He saved his number as Mister! and when she saw it, she laughed. He laughed too.

"You prefer to call me Mister than my name so it isn't a bad idea" he uttered.

She curved her lips facing down and nodded her head gesturing in agreement.

After that, they were silent, then her phone rang. She checked and it was Edward. She gladly swiped to the answer option. All he did was ask how she's doing but what was confusing her was how he knew she was at that party. She asked and he replied he was passing by but deep down of her she knew it wasn't a coincidence but why would he be stalking her if that was the case. Is he a spy or something? She let it slide and hung up.

If he's a spy, who'd want to spy on her? And want to know her every moment? Is he perhaps watching her now in the bus? She looked around but couldn't point out if anyone was him.

"Lucy" his husky calm voice interrupted her thoughts. When she turned to look his way, she felt a pain in her chest so she held it and had her face grimaced.

"Are you okay?" He asked holding on to her hands. She gave him an assuring look before leaning back. "I am... I'm okay" she said and looked out the window.

He was still staring at her, and she could sense and knew he would still stare at her with that worried looking face that annoys her. She just said she was okay! Without looking his way, "I told you I'm okay stop staring or I get upset" she said and pushed his face with her fingers.

"If you say so" he said and looked down at his laps.
