Alex was immediately noticed. This wasn't because he was a human or anything like that, but rather his cultivation base.
Contrary to his earlier opinion, Alex did not advance to the 9th level. He was very close, but not quite there. As such, it struck the guards who stood at the gate as quite odd when an 8th level GM who should not exist in the 2nd Heaven walked through their gates.
They, naturally, immediately reported it the higher ups. It wasn't uncommon for people to ascend and be forced into the forest. It was simply something that sometimes happened to the more unfortunate souls. The new ascended would be acclimated and greeted should they make it here, however ascending at 8th level was a great accomplishment and drew immediate attention to the rulers of the kingdom. A great talent has come.
Alex was unaware of the commotion he caused. He knew that being 8th level was certainly strange, but he didn't know they were checking his cultivation level at the gate. He wasn't that oblivious. At least he knew that the women he cared for in the 1st Heaven were yanderes.
So... Alex found himself immediately apprehended. He was marched through the palace and made to kneel before the king.
...
What you thought it was a queen who he would immediately seduce?
Fools. I wouldn't make him seduce someone with so much power so early in the story.
...
No. It was a king. A spirit tiger to be exact.
"So... You ascended and found yourself in the forest? Is that it."
"That's about it."
Alex left out the part about his crow stalker, due to her not revealing herself. She was still watching from the window.
"Hmmm.... it sounds feasible... mostly because there is no way an 8th level GM could be here if not a fresh ascender, however ascending at the 8th level is insanely difficult. In case of a treasure being present or you being from a higher heaven could you please come and swear at the church for me?"
Treasures could hide cultivation bases and actually, it wasn't unfeasible for Alex to be from a higher heaven. One could go down the heavens if they tried hard enough, but not up without increasing their cultivation. However, it was a matter of honor for people of higher heavens to not descend and nobody ever did it except for people trying to cause trouble. If Alex was truly an person from the higher heavens, he could've used a treasure to hide or suppress his cultivation base and they would report it the authorities. The authorities were people from all Heavens who were strong enough to keep people in line.
Normally, one had two ways of determining if the were from a higher heaven. One was to just report him to the authorities and they would sort it out, and two was having them swear with a god bearing witness. This would be done at a church in front of a blessed statue of whatever god they worshipped. The gods either stemmed from the celestials of the 10th heaven or the ones regarded as gods on the 9th. Either worked. In this case, Alex was led to a statue of a 9 tailed kitsune who was seen as a god from the 9th heaven.
Having nothing to hide, Alex decided to just swear and let it all be over with.
"I swear that I am an ascended and not a descended, let this god be my witness."
Satisfied, the king looked at the statue, admiring the beautiful god he served.
"Thank you, I really just didn't want to have to deal with a descended or the authorities."
"No problem. Do you think you could just point me in the nearest big settlement. I want to get my bearings."
"Ya, I've got a map. Just promise, if you become big, don't forget out kindness."
"Sure... Your goddess is really beautiful."
The king beamed. He loved it when people praised the kitsune goddess as he was a devout believer.
"Indeed, this statue is very special. They say she is watching over us through it's eyes."
Alex raised his own eyes, looking directly into the statues eyes.
"I hope so. It's always nice to have a god looking out for you."
Alex spent a little while longer looking into the statue's eyes, before turning and walking away. He had places to be.
A few moments later, the statue quivered...
Though nobody was around to see it.
