"Don't involve him in this," Alex said angrily. "Don't you fucking involve him in this because he has nothing to do with this,"

"Okay. I can see you're trying to protect him, Alex, and I really admire that in you. However, you need to realize that it all means nothing if you're behind bars and he is out there, in the hands of who knows who," Val said in a soothing voice, which worked since all the anger on Alex's face disappeared, and it was suddenly replaced by love and compassion. 

"You need to promise me that he will be safe and that nothing will happen to him," Alex said after a while, and Val nodded. 

"I didn't do it. It all happened so fast,"

Suddenly, the guard opened the door and shouted that time was up. Val looked at Alex in an assuring manner and said that she would visit soon. She also whispered that she would protect Ian, and she sadly watched as Alex was handcuffed and led back into his room.
