LILY'S POV
I patiently waited for Danny to return with my food while I kept my eyes busy with the decorations of the room which really wowed me. I needed not to be told I was in a castle with the way the whole place looked like it was in another world; fantasy world, a beauty I thought I could only imagine in my head and dreams.
Suddenly the door through the outside creaked open letting in a pretty girl with blonde hair and sharp round eyes.
"Wow, she is so pretty," I murmured to herself as I watched the girl walk to where I sat.
She stood right in front of me, hands akimbo with her face squeezed while she scrutinized me with the piercing eyes of hers.
"And who...are...you?" she asked with a raised brow.
I shifted uncomfortably on my seat. Just a moment ago, I classified her as pretty but I guess I just made a mistake as the girl right in front of me with no manners was nothing close to pretty. I took back my words that said she was pretty.
"Errrrm...I…"
"Hey you okay, who are you speaking with?" Danny's voice came from the doorway. He walked into the sitting room the next minute with a tray of food in his hands.
"Really Danny? You are cheating on me now huh?" The girl yelled at Danny once he got in.
"Oh wo! Emily, you didn't tell me you were coming," Danny said, dropping the food on the large round table in front.
Oh, Emily, that's her name. I noted.
She looked like a troublesome girlfriend, I couldn't help but wonder how Danny coped with her.
"Danny, she is the reason you don't pay attention anymore right? You don't even care about me anymore because of her…" Emily cried, throwing a glare at me.
She looked to be on the verge of fake tears which happened before I could say jack.
"Emily not right now please… I am not cheating on you with anybody okay?" Danny tried to comfort her but it ended up making Emily worse.
"Then why were you here with her without checking up on me? Huh?" Emily whined.
I could see the frustration in Danny's eyes as he tried to calm her down. He really must have a lot of patience to put up with Emily.
"You don't love me anymore…" Emily sobbed.
Danny pushed her into his arms and led them to a seat nearby while Emily sobbed in his chest.
"Don't say that baby, you know I love you right? Come on look at me now," Danny lifted her face up to meet his eyes.
"I love you right?" Danny assured her.
I hissed inside of me as the two lovestruck guys whined and cooed to each other. I wondered if they purposely did this to make me jealous or what. Why are they acting like they haven't held each other for many years? I scoffed at them and pretended like I had no idea they were corrupting the atmosphere with their silly love.
Danny had to forget me and the food he brought for me for his girlfriend. I felt jealous, I mean I thought he would be the one to clean the shame Liam has placed on me. I wished he didn't have a girlfriend. Well, I guess I wished for a lot as it has now become clearer to me that I'm destined to die without love, without a mate, without a soulmate, just me in my.lonely rejected world.
"You alright now babe?" Danny asked Emily as he lifted her face up. Her sobs have subsided now.
"My prince, Hailey, asked that you open the door for her," a maid told Danny.
"Oh yes! I had completely forgotten about that… Come Emily, let's go get Hailey." Danny took Emily along with him and they left the sitting room.
I heaved a sigh of relief and took in a breath of fresh air free from their silly romance and relaxed my back on the chair.
"Go on and eat, the food is yours…" Danny had told me as he left but I was being reluctant about it probably because I had some atom of fear in me or maybe because Emily just ruined my mood and the slight hope and happiness I thought I had.
After a while, I sat up from the chair and carried the tray of food to eat.
It was pasta and sauce, just the aroma alone got me triple hungry as I devoured the food hungrily.
I belched loudly after I finished the food and gulped down a full glass of water without a pause.
"You must have been really hungry,"Danny said, coming into the room and startling me in the process.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," he apologized and sat down.
"I can let you stay here for now, I mean after what you told me, I can't let you go out there. It's dangerous and rogues and wild wolves could be out there. You are safe here and can remain here for now."
I was dumbfounded with what Danny just said, I mean I didn't think anyone would gladly accept a total stranger into his home these days but he is doing it even when he was aware of the risks involved. That shows how caring and good he is.
"I…"
I tried to speak but words failed me.
"I mean thank you and I promise I would never disturb the peace of this home and I…"
I rattled on and on, overly happy and grateful that I have a place to lay my head when I already gave up hope of sleeping under a roof this night.
And I wasn't just sleeping under any roof but an overwhelmingly beautiful one at that.
I grinned happily and couldn't stop my happy self from smiling.
Danny watched my expression and had a smile on his face. I bet he felt happy helping me out. I was happy to live here, in the castle with Danny and his family but what worried me a lot was how living with people I barely know would be like but as desperate as I was, I had to keep those thoughts and worries aside and rejoice for at least not sleeping in the bush and probably been devoured by a wild animal or hurt by a rogue.
