The water dried, and the ghost faded. Afena got on her feet, and turned to look at Rudsis, who stood patiently with arms crossed. It occurred to Afena that, being a guard, he must have had a lot of practice doing precisely that.
"You were very kind to her, witch," he said.
"Thank you."
"Shall we go and pay a visit to the herbalist, then?"
"I don't know that we'll find her shop tonight. I was able to find the carpenter's, but it's easy to find a wood shop. A herbalist's, however, could just blend in with the houses around it and we'd never be the wiser."
"That's true. Should we search for it tomorrow, then?"
"Could you? I'd like to prepare the stories for tomorrow night."
"You're enjoying yourself, aren't you?"
"I'm having fun. But more than that, it's to earn our nights at the inn. Nights in which you're enjoying yourself, by the way."
