It was a risk, but Selen had planned things out carefully for those five days she spent observing Afena. Treni would take a whole day to get to Afena's cottage, unless she was there spying on Selen, of course. But that didn't seem likely. Her niece, she hoped, would have other things to take care of.
She closed her eyes, and established a connection with Treni. "I know what to do."
"I'll be there in a day," answered the green goddess.
"No. I need to get something first. Three days should be enough."
A sense of vexation, then, "Three days, then."
The connection disappeared.
Sitting on the same branch where Treni had left her, Selen spoke mentally to the Inarenta. "Afena?"
Through enhanced eyes, she saw that the silver haired woman started the slightest. Afena was kneeling at the low table she used to read her runes, but only stared at the little metal tokens strewn across the wooden surface.
"Selen?"
