I turned my attention from Ruby to Ashlynn, the witch smirking at me as if she'd just taken the entire world from my hands. Once upon a time it had been Braeden that she wanted. Then it turned to everyone around me. Greed and power were the ultimate corrupters.  


"Jealous much, Cass?" Ashlynn cackled and looked at Ruby. "She's mine now. Forever mine and you lose once again."


I gave her a little smirk. "I heard the same thing from Challis, Ren, and Sonny. It didn't turn out so good for them, did it?"


Ashlynn pursed her lips and then growled. I imagined her at some point in her life flying along a yellow brick road, surrounded by monkeys.


Kyler and Braeden ran up beside me and hit Ashlynn with a combination of fire and metal from the floor Kyler had pulled away. The elements hit their mark and exploded.
