I was worried about Sasha. She recovered her strength and wasn’t as upset by what the magic had done, but she was upset about something.
“What will we do if the past orb isn’t in the temple beneath the library?” she asked when I confronted her.
I put my hands on her shoulders, stroking her neck with my thumbs.
“How is it that you always find something to worry about?” I teased. “The Immortal in this realm is dead. Morianne is going to prison. We got the cane, which means this Sasha has her powers back.”
Sasha sighed and shrugged against my hands. “I can’t help it. I wanted to stay here and fix the problems in this reality. But we have and now we still don’t have a way back. According to Stone, we might never get back.”
I scoffed. “Don’t believe what he said. He doesn’t know anything about the orbs. Besides, with your power, I’m sure you can figure it out.”
She nodded, but she didn’t look any happier or lighter.
