Hugo opened his mouth as he glanced at the kick coming towards him. There was no way he could dodge this, it was too fast. And from what he was seeing, the kick was gonna land on his forehead...that's where Captain Wayne aimed for.
The kick landed on his forehead, and he lost stamina immediately and flew off. Captain Wayne was an expert, there wasn't much force to the kick, he doesn't want to damage someone's head. Hugo landed on the ground as dust filled the air. They were on the brick side of the compound, but dust was still on the ground.
By now, Hugo's clothes were stained, but that doesn't matter, he was training, that's why they got stained. He stood up from the ground, and Captain Wayne said to him,
"So, I attacked first this time, but why are you the one that fell to the ground? The problem isn't about who attacked first or not, what matters is who is skilled enough. You're still very weak, you lacking in many ways when it comes to martial arts, that's why none of your attacks have touched me".
"That's true, but definitely, I am gonna become stronger". Hugo voiced out.
"Yeah, that's the belief you should have, that's the type of determination you should have. Let me tell you some more things about martial arts before we'll continue with our training".
He began filling Hugo's head with knowledge about martial arts, and Hugo was understanding all. He spent close to 12 minutes teaching Hugo things about martial arts. And this was his last statement when he was done,
"Hope you understand all?".
"Yes, Captain Wayne". Hugo responded.
"Now, let's continue with our training. But before we continue, let me tell you this. We've trained for some minutes now, and none of your attacks have touched me. We want to resume our training, and none of your attacks might still not touch me. As I've told you before, I don't plan on taking it easy with you,
But that doesn't mean that you're useless, that you'll never learn martial arts. I am an expert, and you're a beginner, today is your first day of training. As you said, you are gonna become stronger, hold on to that belief".
Hugo just nodded his head, the captain was good with words. The both of them continued training, Hugo kept on attacking Captain Wayne and trying to at least hit him a little, he wanted his fist to touch him...but it wasn't just possible. But Hugo didn't lose hope, Captain Wayne had already encouraged him before the training started.
But something happened, while the both of them were in a fist fight, it was part of the training. Captain Wayne had already dodged one of Hugo's punches, using part of the martial arts training he received from the captain, he swung that same hand aiming to hit Captain Wayne in the chest. It isn't a must that you'll have to use your second hand to attack when your first hand's attack has been dodged.
You can use that same hand to attack, be it back or front. If the person dodges your punch and your hand swings past, the person would be expecting that you'll throw another punch with your second hand. Instead, swing that same hand to hit him in the face. And if you're successful with that, throw another punch with your second hand so he'll lose stamina completely.
That's what Hugo did, and it almost worked. The hand touched Captain Wayne's chest, but before the force could take its effect, Captain Wayne held his hand and kicked him in his leg causing him to lose stamina. The kick wasn't enough for Hugo to fall to the ground completely, he fell, but he used his hands to support his whole body.
He stood up from the ground, glanced at Captain Wayne, and said,
"That was close, I almost hit you".
"Yeah, you did a good job, boy, if you had been fast enough, then you would have hit me, I wouldn't have caught your hand". Captain Wayne voiced out.
"But I did it swiftly, I was fast, I used what you taught me".
"You weren't fast enough".
Hugo sighed, what else does he need to do to be fast? He was sure that he moved his hand swiftly to hit Captain Wayne in the chest. He knew that he needed to increase his speed, he still had a lot to learn when it comes to martial arts. But the fact remains, he was a beginner, and Captain Wayne was an expert, that's why he hadn't been able to hit him.
Their training continued, they trained and trained, but Hugo wasn't feeling tired, instead, he was feeling a certain kind of energy grow in him. Like, he was enjoying the feeling, it just felt like he was getting stronger already. Yeah, a single of his punch hadn't touched Captain Wayne, but he was still enjoying the training.
Time passed as it was already mid-afternoon heading straight to evening, but lots of people were still on the compound training. Some students had stopped training already, it was an agreement between the teachers and the students. At this time, we gonna stop training and resume tomorrow. It was then up to the student to resume the training, but he or she would have to do it personally.
Captain Wayne and Hugo had paused training, they'll most likely not go back to it for today. Hugo was still far behind when it comes to martial arts, but at least, he's learned some things. He and Captain Wayne were sitting on the ground currently discussing. They weren't discussing martial arts or stuff like that...they were discussing something else.
Were they friends? Umm..sort of. It doesn't have to be all about seriousness when training someone, you've got to befriend the person, chat with the person, get to know more about the person. And that's what Captain Wayne was doing right now. They were still discussing when the gate opened.
The gate didn't open on its own, someone opened it. It was the doing of one of the S class students positioned at the fence to watch out for lurking dangers. And the moment he opened it, another set of S class students stepped foot into the compound. They were all carrying heavy backpacks, dressed in black, and their weapons were on them also.
They were panting, and they were a little sweaty. They were four in number, three guys, and one girl. They went out to get more foodstuff for the survival of everyone in this academy. That's how it's been done, everyday, S class students go out of this academy to get foodstuff and other essential things. It was a risky job, but they've got to do it.
From the look of things, they were really tired. The heavy backpacks they were carrying were weighing them down, and they came across lots of zombies outside. You should have already discerned what was in those backpacks...foodstuff and other essential things.
Hugo glanced at them, and he came to realize that what they were doing wasn't easy. A type of profound respect for them developed in him at that moment. Captain Wayne noticed that his eyes were focused on them, so he uttered to him,
"Their job isn't easy, right?".
"At all, they are really trying, doing this for the sake of everyone in this academy. Even with these heavy backpacks they are carrying, they'll still have to make it to this academy. And definitely, it wouldn't be a smooth journey to this place, they'll come across zombies on the way. Got to say it again, they are trying". Hugo expressed.
"They aren't S class students for nothing. Being in the S class means that you should be ready to handle this kind of responsibility. Tomorrow, they wouldn't be the ones to go bring more foodstuff, another group of S class students would handle it. And all these are under my command, I was the one that set it that way,
Look at how they are sweating, they must be really tired...it isn't easy. I've got to go meet them". Captain Wayne uttered as he ran over to meet them.
He got to where they were and began speaking with them. A smile appeared on their faces, what did he say to make them smile? No one knows. He assisted the female among them with her bag, he helped her carry it as they strolled. People on the compound were glancing at them as they sauntered. 'They are doing a great job', that's what was running through most of their heads.
Hugo just sat on that spot as he watched them saunter. Once he becomes skilled like them, he'll love to do the type of job they were doing.
