Chapter 17: Be Careful What You Wish For

Morning sun entered through the open curtains in Damon’s room, forcing him awake—not that he had achieved much sleep throughout the night. As soon as he came into consciousness, he saw Adelaide in his mind’s eye and the entire escapade played out again one too many times. Damon sat up on the edge of the bed and groaned, trying to erase any facet of emotion from his brain. He had no energy to wrestle with himself today: he needed a distraction, and a d*mned good one at that.
