Adora lifted an eyebrow and her lips pursed. She touched the pendant on her necklace, toying with the chain that it was attached to. It was a bright turquoise and stood out against her black and brown outfit. “And how do you plan on doing that?”

“By going to the Royal Shift,” Adelaide replied. “You know how to get there, right?”

“Hm,” Adora muttered, confirming Adelaide’s suspicions. “That community is riddled with hundreds of years of hatred and corruption. What makes you think you can change everything?”

Adelaide looked to Damon, her gaze consisting only of worry. In that moment, Damon didn’t need her to speak. He was aware of Adora’s personality at this point and understood why Adelaide would be afraid to tell her who she was. But she had to.
