Chapter 31: Betrayal

As the blade made contact with Eli’s body, the iridescent blue hue shone brighter than Damon had ever seen it, glistening underneath the emerging sunlight. Eli dropped his hands, releasing Adelaide, looking down at the knife that was protruding from his torso.

Adelaide landed on the sharp pebbles, and Damon instantly rushed to her side. She coughed multiple times as she caught her breath; her eyes were still bloodshot but were steadily returning to normal.

Eli took a step back while his body entered a state of shock—his shoes filling with water with each step into the river he took. His hands moved to his chest, and his eyes widened. A cough erupted from him, echoing Adelaide’s, and blood pooled in his mouth, dripping down, and colouring the water a shade of red.

He stumbled back a bit more and uttered his final words: “You…little sh*t.”
