Chapter 34: On Your Own

When Damon woke again, he was still in the same position on the couch, only the room was still except for the sound of a ticking clock. He sat up the best he could and realized that Adelaide’s chair was empty. He was alone.

The room was rather dark, with a single lamp lighting a small section of the space. He glanced down at his cut, which was re-bandaged, and entirely clean. He peeled it back just enough to see that all of the black had receded—it worked. However, the cut itself was still discoloured, most likely from all of the irritation.

Damon reached behind his head to touch the spot where he fell on the rocks, and instead, felt a small bandage there as well. The pain still existed but was minimal to how it had been in the past. He lifted his legs around and stood up from the couch, feeling them take a moment to secure before he started walking.
