Chapter 37: Heroine

As Damon pressed forward, day turned into night and the more fatigued he realized he had become. He wanted more than anything to rest, but if he gave into his desires, he would risk losing Adelaide’s trail, and no matter how tired he had become, the pros never outweighed the cons.

He continued through the woods and eventually came to a clearing within the forest, where several trees had been either pulled up from their roots out of the ground or were missing the top half. Damon tuned in his senses and nearby, could hear the sound of running water. He was back at the river where they had met Adelaide’s mother and then ran into Eli. If there was ever a good place to take a break, it was here.
