Chapter 104

Before this had occurred, I had had my usual tea time with the honorable first son of Duke Dostave in his office. Today he had a pretty set of chocolates set out next to a minty tea with a sweet aftertaste. His smile was ever warm as he greeted me.

I, however, felt like all my insides were turning to stone and heating up. This wasn't going to be a fun conversation.

Roman caught on quick.

"Did something happen?"

I took a sip of the tea to brace myself.

"I can accept firing Lizzy for what she did. But cutting off her hands and banishing her is way too much, no matter how much I think about it."

Roman's mouth went thin. He closed his eyes and folded his hands together.

"How did you find out?" he asked.

"I found her at the city gate next to Red Swallow Inn."

"Ah."

"So you knew I'd react like this?"
