Chapter 189

The novelty of driving a horse-drawn cart wore off quickly. The bench was hard, the backrest (if it could be called that), was harder, and the summer sun was merciless.

Oh yeah. I didn't do good in the heat. Freaking...freaking frack...ugh.

I'd been okay the day before since it had been overcast. But today I had no covers. Not even an excuse for a cover. The only thing I could do was covertly hook the reins on the seat and go to the back to dig through my chest for my garden hat. I didn't need to add sunburns onto my misery. At least I'd had the mind to wear a dress with long sleeves, loose and cool as they were.

I had just made it up front, dripping with sweat and generally light headed, when someone shouted from alongside my cart. I looked over to see a brown headed woman who didn't look like she should be jogging, let alone moving.

"Are - are you the healer?" she panted. "The one from the village?"

"Yes?" Oh screw it, this was just sad. "Do you want a ride?"
