Chapter 50: My Mother's Daughter

*** Ariana's POV***

Triton and I sat there with our breath held, waiting for my mother's words. But then, I felt my hands get wet and clammy. I did not like this feeling. It felt like a very tense scenario. And, I felt my breath stop flowing as I waited for her to speak.

"But," she said again as she continued sipping her coffee slowly as if marinating her thoughts in it. "You must not mark each other yet. You must know what will happen if you do such a thing."

I looked towards Triton in relief. We almost did mark each other. If my mom didn't come and interrupt us, we would be in trouble.

"Do not worry," Triton said slowly. "We have not marked one another yet."

"Good," my mother said with relief. "I was not sure what you two were up to in her room, but it seemed to be getting rather active. That's why I thought I'd interrupt. You cannot mark one another. Her father will know. He cannot know about this yet."
