Vol. 1 Chapter 2 : System start
"Where am I?!" Isabelle takes another look around, this time holding the lid and spatula in her hands closer to her body.
"Where the hell am I?! Wasn't I just preparing fried rice?! And the stove just exploded?!?" Isabelle exclaims, her voice quivering with fear.
"Oh my gahd my apartment!! I just paid the rent yesterday! am I dead or just dreaming while my body is unconscious?!" she pinched her her palm with force. "Ouch that hurt!"
She hears a child's voice say, "You best keep quiet before beasts hear you and try to eat you."
"Who are you? where are you?! come out!" waving her spatula around like a sword and the lid as her shield she looked quite funny.
"I said keep quiet or you'll really die noisy brat! I am inside your mind you can't see me." Isabelle pauses then laughs suddenly
"This cant be, am I really going crazy? first I'm in a forest I don't know, now I'm hearing things?!" Isabelle then shakes her head and hits it lightly with the spatula.
"Idiot Isabelle wake up! or your house would really burn down and you'll die without a body!" she said to herself
"you brat really leave me no choice!" then a sudden light condensed Infront of her and there appeared a creature looking like a child floating in mid air
"WHAT?" she exclaimed, pausing for a second and widening her eyes. For fear of attracting dangerous animals, the child forced her mouth shut.
"I've already told you twice to keep quiet, you're super noisy! do you really want to be eaten here?!" the child's eyes widened with evident fury in them
"I'm going to let go of your mouth and you'll keep quiet alright?" Isabelle while staring at the child's face close to her and nodded
"Good" the child then let go of Isabelle's mouth and rubbed his hand on a handkerchief
"What are you?" Isabelle asks, her gaze fixed on the youngster suspended in mid-air. She was staring at the child with the halo and dazzling background with her mouth open.
"Ehem, I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Conrad," Conrad says, expecting a response, but Isabelle just stares blankly at him, her mouth slightly open.
"Hehe, I know I'm gorgeous," Conrad remarked smugly, "but you must lock your mouth lest bugs crawl inside of it."
Isabelle's face was appalled as she said, "Ew, I'm not a pedo."
Conrad: .....
"oh ahm u-um hello my name is-" stuttering Isabelle was about to introduce herself when she was caught off "you don't need to introduce yourself I already know you. Isabelle right?" Isabelle nodded obediently
"I'll call you belle for short, you want to know where you are, why you're here and what happened to your house right?" Isabelle nodded again
"All right, since you're calm and obedient, I'll answer your questions. You're no longer in your own world, but in another one where orcs shape shift into humanoids but retain animal qualities and there are no humans." Isabelle got a puzzled expression on her face before panicking and exclaiming, "What?! why am I here?!?"
"up up up up up let me finish ok?" Isabelle remains silent, allowing Conrad to continue his words
"The beings in this world are what you term magical creatures in your world; there are also elves, dwarves, and giants, but they are usually few in number and remain in hiding; the orcs have the biggest population." Conrad pauses and gives Isabelle a quick glance.
"I have no idea why you were chosen; the only thing I know about you is that I am your guardian, or what you refer to in your novels as a system that will assist you in completing duties that will rescue the world and yourself."
Isabelle stares at Conrad again this time in confusion and anger "What do you mean I need to do tasks to save this world?! I just wanna get my exams over with, graduate and get a job! why am I pulled into an inter dimensional crisis when I'm just an ordinary college student? can't you just get someone else?!"
"I'm not sure why the Gods chose you, but look, I'm just here to help you okay, I'm just a worker too," Conrad said, appearing hopeless.
"All you have to do now is fulfill the assignments, save the world, and you'll be back in your own world; your time in your world has been suspended, and your apartment hasn't caught fire either; when you return, the time you've spent here will be non-existent, and everything will be the same."
