Chapter 32: I’ll Arrest You Myself

She smiled bitterly at him." Mr. Sterling, how should I know whether it was paradise or hell beside you?"

Wade finally understood. He couldn't understand what a lonely girl was thinking to protect herself since he had always been friends with powerful people. He finally understood the answer to the question.

However, this woman had been close to Patrick Lewis, had made contributions to the alliance, and had been honored publicly at the same time.

This was tricky.

"Why did he send you into the Phoenix?"

"He wanted me to steal the structural map." She looked determined. "But Mr. Sterling, I have never done it or intended to. I will not betray humans."

Wade nodded. He had asked the Phoenix about her, and they had confirmed that she had never crossed the line.

"I have said that you saved me once." He stared at her deeply, "there is no evidence showing you are guilty, so I'll release you. But you are restricted and not allowed to leave Hope City. Once we find any evidence that shows you're guilty, I'll arrest you myself."

"Thank you, Mr. Sterling." She paused, "Can I... see him?"

Wade looked at her.

"Maybe you can't understand how much a woman hates the man who took her virginity forcefully." She said slowly. "If he finally becomes a rat, obnoxious to everyone, I really want to see how miserable he is now. If you allow me, I hope I can kill him myself."

Sometimes Emerald thought she was not a good person.

Otherwise, why didn't she say anything true to Wade Sterling, who was honest and resolute?

But she didn't lie either because everything she said was half true and half false.

Wade would not execute that man because of the magical medicine that didn't exist at all, and he would allow her to see Patrick Lewis in jail because he wanted to monitor her too.

The man who was an absolute monarch towards her was now a prisoner, and he couldn't do anything to her anymore. She was free now. She felt more uneasy after a little relief.

She went into the underground jail in the Sterling mansion with two Sterling guards carrying weapons behind her.

The prison was a square room without windows or furniture. Patrick Lewis and Harvey McAdams were both sitting on the floor in this metal cage.

They looked really degraded.

Patrick stared at her the moment she stepped into the door. Harvey stood up and seemed pretty angry.

"Can't imagine you'd look like this one day," Emerald said coldly.

Patrick smiled.

Harvey said icily, "A woman is a woman. You hit us when we are down now and never think about how we helped you before. You make me sick!"

"Sick?" Emerald glared at him, "What he has done to me is even sicker! Patrick Lewis? What an interesting name, but I'm not afraid of you. And you know what? I hoped I could kill you every day I was with you and when I was in the Phoenix."

"The lord has just saved you!" Harvey said angrily.

"That's because he didn't want to waste the training on me!" Emerald stared at Patrick, "I'm not grateful at all."

Patrick's face dulled gradually.

He stood up and walked to Emerald. She bravely looked him in the eyes through the door.

"I never knew you were so stupid to seek death here." He said coldly.

Even though she was prepared for this, she still somehow trembled inside when she heard his tone. She was still scared even when he was standing in the cage this time.

"Really?" She smiled icily, "It's a pity you will be the first one to die. "She turned around to go without looking at Patrick.

The two guards kept silent in the tension and were shocked when they saw Emerald walking to them with her face covered with tears.

In this instant, Emerald quickly reached her hand to one guard's waist and grabbed his gun.

She never expected that today she would use this card she had learned from Bruce Green.

She breathed nervously, and the two guards freaked out and pointed their guns at her, "Miss Wilson, drop the gun!"

But she ignored their threats, turned around, and pointed the gun at Patrick, "I will kill him myself."

The guards started to worry and panicked because this woman seemed fearless of death, and they couldn't shoot her. What should they do now?

Harvey shouted angrily and rushed to stand in front of Patrick, but Patrick pushed him away. He was staring at her coldly.

Emerald stared back at him and walked to him step by step until her gun was pressed on his forehead. It seemed that there was no cage between the two.

"Miss Wilson! Hold your horses!" The guards shouted loudly to her. One of them ran out to call for backup.

At this moment, Patrick reached his hand out of his cage as quick as lightning and grabbed Emerald's neck.

"Do you want to die with me?" He easily lifted her up and forced her to come close to him. Emerald seemed terrified, and her hand, which was holding the gun, was trembling, but she didn't dare to fire.

The guard watching them was stunned. He didn't know whether he should point his gun at Emerald or Patrick.

"Where your men are..." Emerald suddenly whispered to him so that only he could hear her, "I can tell them... It's the only thing I can do..."

He raised his eyebrows and looked at the woman, whose face was all red, in his hand.

"Do you want me to believe you?" His face approached her like he was going to bite her on the ear.

"I have a requirement...." She gasped for air, feeling that he had loosened his hand a little, and whispered almost inaudibly, "... freedom."

"Kill her!" Harvey shouted from behind them.

"Let go! Let go now!" Several guards rushed in and pointed their guns at them. Patrick stared at her deeply, as if he wanted to look inside her mind.

He suddenly loosened his hands, and Emerald fell onto the ground. When she wanted to jump up, she was grabbed by the guards and pushed outside the jail.
