Tymarie tried to keep the Alpha from falling, but when he lost consciousness, he was too heavy for her to hold up. His body went limp, and he hit the ground hard.
"Damn it!" The Beta Payne yelled. "Hurry, help me get him in the truck!"
Following his orders, Tymarie grabbed the Alpha's legs, while Payne lifted Ram's upper body into the passenger's side of the truck. It wasn't easy, the male was huge, and she struggled for a moment before they got him completely into the truck. Quickly, Beta Payne was in the driver's seat, and she was squeezing beside Ram.
"We need to get him to the packhouse," Payne said.
Tymarie was silent as she looked over the Alpha's wound.
"Is there a healer there?" She asked as she knew it would take one within minutes to even give him a chance at survival.
"No." The Beta looked over at the bleeding wound and then up into her eyes. They didn't speak, but it was understood between them that the Alpha was not going to make it. Payne punched the dashboard as he cried out in frustration. "Shit. Shit. Shit!"
Tymarie ran her fingers gently over Ram's face, brushing his long brown curls away from his eyes. The male's face was scarred from battles, with one long one going all the way across it. This only added to the intimidating persona that he gave off. Her heart stung as she realized that this would be the last she saw of the male. Suddenly, Beta Payne slammed on the breaks and pulled off the side of the road.
"The Forced Blood Bond," Payne said to her.
"You can't be serious?" Tymarie shook her head in disagreement. "That's outlawed. It's forbidden."
"And you'd rather him die?" The Beta asked her. "Look at him, you can save him."
"And I'd be bonded to him for life." She looked away.
"At least he'd be alive." Payne grabbed her face and forced her to look at Ram. "If you let him die, I'll make sure you die beside him."
Tymarie smacked the Beta's hands away from her and growled at him.
"There's no telling that it will even work." She told him. "It's not guaranteed. And even if it did miraculously work, I could be killed for disobeying pack laws."
"No one would know. I'd never tell a soul." He held his hand over his heart. "I swear to Moon, I'll never tell. Just please, save my Alpha."
Everything around Tymarie was telling her to not force the bond; her bouncing heart, the thunder that began drumming in the air, the birds that suddenly went silent. Not only was her heart trying to stop her, but the earth was begging her to not test the laws of nature with a forced blood bond. One last look at Ram blinded her to all the warnings, as she nodded to Payne in agreement.
Werewolves naturally bonded to their mates. It was a beautiful connection that nature allowed them to experience with another if they were lucky enough to find their fated mate. Some bonds happened at first sight, fast and sudden. Other bonds would come out of nowhere. It could suddenly spark up between two wolves that had known each other for years and never connected until that sudden moment.
Like love, bonds were unpredictable and unstoppable. And like love, bonds could be beautiful or tragic.
One thing was for sure though; once the bond connected, you were bonded for life. Forcing this bond would mean that Tymarie would be attached to Ram forever. They would feel one another's emotions and pain. They'd long for each other when apart, and desire each other when near.
This also meant that if they didn't stay loyal to each other and one would take another into their bed, the other would know and feel the agony as the other felt pleasure from another's flesh.
Her whole life would change. It would mean sacrifice and taking a risk, and that's if it even worked. Failing could even lead to death, if the Moon decided so.
"Here." The Beta handed her his knife. "Do you know what to do?"
"I know." She grabbed the knife from him and shook her head in disgust as she looked down at the gushing wound.
Knowing Ram didn't have much time left, Tymarie began the Forced Blood Bond. First, she leaned down and licked his bloody wound. The taste of him overwhelmed her, but she kept lapping his wound with her tongue. After she thought it had been enough, she parted her mouth from his flesh and made eye contact with Payne. He was watching her anxiously.
"You can do it." He encouraged her.
Tymarie lifted the knife high and then brought it down into the palm of her hand. Pain rushed in a wave from her finger, up her arm, and into her chest. She cried out a small welp, but she didn't have time to give to the pain. She had to give everything to the bond, or it wouldn't work. Moving onto the next step, she put her bloody hand up to Ram's mouth and forced her blood onto his tongue.
With eyes closed, she chanted the words over and over.
"His blood is mine. My blood is his. Mother Moon, we beg you for the bond." She repeated it.
Beta Payne gasped, causing her to open her eyes and look down at the Alpha's wound. It was healing right in front of them, along with the cut on the palm of her hand.
"It's working," Payne whispered. "Keep going."
She continued chanting, begging the Moon to connect the two of them, asking for the Mother of the sky to grant them an unnatural bond. Suddenly, her body jerked and Tymarie felt her bones crack and burst. In agony, she cried out in pain and fell over onto Ram.
"What's happening?" Beta Payne called out to her, but she was unable to breathe, let alone speak. "Somethings wrong!"
Ram's body began to shake underneath her and she could hear him fighting for air like her. The Forced Blood Bond must've gone horribly wrong, and now they would both die. It was just as she feared, the Moon had refused her request and punished them for asking such a forbidden request. Tears ran down Tymarie's face as she felt the last breath escape her lips. Her heart stopped and everything went silent. As her mind went black, her body went still.
"No!" Payne was yelling. "You can't die!"
"Why are you screaming?" Ram's voice brought her back to consciousness.
"Alpha?" The Beta practically threw Tymarie out of the way as he leaned down and embraced Ram.
Tymarie pulled herself away from the males and sat back against the passenger door of the truck. She was alive. Ram was alive. The Moon had allowed them to live, but that also meant that the blood bond was forced as well.
The Alpha sat up in his seat and looked down at his stomach where the bullet wound had been. Werewolves heal much faster than humans, but not as fast as he had. Ram wiped his mouth with his hand and then gazed at Tymarie's blood on his fingers.
"What have you done?" He asked her.
When their eyes met for the first time since Ram had awakened, a strange strong desire overwhelmed Tymarie. She's had a strange attraction to the Alpha ever since she first saw him, but this feeling was different than anything she'd ever felt within her own body. It was then that she realized that the lust she was feeling wasn't her own desire, but the desire of the Alpha that the bond was allowing her to sense.
"Damn it." Ram's face changed from confused to angry and he quickly turned to question his Beta. "What the hell did you two do?"
"Alpha, please, relax. You've been through a lot." Beta Payne tried to calm Ram, but the Alpha was now growling.
"You better not have done what I think you did!"
"Please, just relax."
"Tell me what you've done!" His eyes began to glow. "Now!"
"It's my fault." Tymarie took the blame. "I did it. I forced the Blood Bond."
"Why would you do that?" He yelled her way. "I didn't want that. I never asked to be mated to you!"
"I didn't do it because I wanted to be mated to you." She yelled back at him. "We didn't have any other options."
"Do you realize what you've done?"
"I saved your damn life. That's what I did." Tymarie told him. "You were going to die. We didn't have time to get you to a healer and even your strong Alpha wolf blood wouldn't heal you fast enough. I had to make a choice, let you die or beg the Moon to force the bond, which would heal the wound. So, I chose for you to live."
"And now we're connected forever," Ram said with disappointment. "Now you're my bonded mate. It's not right. It's not natural."
"Well, it's too late now."
"Damn you!" His fist slammed into the window only inches from her head, shattering it into pieces.
The bond was causing her to feel his anger and fueling her own. Before she could control herself, she slapped him across the face.
"I've saved your life twice, next time I'll let you die." She growled into his face.
"Everyone, relax!" Beta Payne interrupted them. "Alpha, you're alive. She's alive. We can figure out everything in between later. Let's just get to the packhouse before more trouble shows up."
"Sure," Ram said only inches from her face, "Let's go home, mate." He was mocking her, and he was mocking the bond, but Tymarie grinned right back at him.
"Always and forever." She taunted him.
Now that they were bonded, they were connected in many ways, and she couldn't wait to twist and play with each rope that was attached to him.
