THE SUDDEN APPOINTMENT

*BEEP BEEP BEEP*

I suddenly woke up screaming!

Breathing heavily, heart beating fast, just looking around every direction in shock as I found myself covered in a pool of my own cold sweat on the bed.

The alarm which was right next to me, was going off in a damn loud and annoying noise so I turned it off in anger.

I layed back down in bed, covering my face with my hands while I tried to calm myself down.

Fortunately for me, it was only a nightmare.

Indeed, reality sucks.. so does my nightmares.

I checked the time,

It showed, "10:14pm".

It took me a few minutes to gather my thoughts and finally stop panicking over a stupid nightmare. Though I won't lie, it was scary as hell. Then I started to realize that something like that wasn't impossible either. According to Captain Carter, this whole zombie business is sort of like a virus that spreads. Even so, I doubt that would happen anytime soon, for I've already accepted the fact that zombies are real..

I mean I couldn't keep ignoring it. After all, I've seen it with my own eyes, and what a zombie is capable of doing. First that psychotic man from the university dorm, and then John.

Within a split second, another memory suddenly gushed through my mind.. about what happened in the dark alleyway earlier today. Come to think of it, those growls and snarls I heard there was somewhat similar to John's and that psychotic man's vocals. I just couldn't notice that sooner cause I was too busy having my tail stuck between my legs every single time. If there really were zombies in that alleyway, how did they even get there??

All I know, was that I was lucky enough to escape that place in one piece.

But I still couldn't get over the fact that John was gone. If only there was like a cure for this virus.. maybe I could bring him back to his original state?

Meaningless questions just started filling my head so I just tried to ignore that and went ahead to prepare dinner for myself as I was starving.

Yes, I live alone, if I hadn't mentioned that before. My parents are abroad, too busy with their jobs to stick together as a family. At least I'm a grown man now and I can fend for myself, so it didn't really matter to me either way.

Soon after I finished eating my dinner, I grabbed my phone and called Lisa once again. I couldn't help but feel bad for what happened, and how Lisa must've felt after all of that.

While still thinking about her, I looked at the calendar.

23rd of July.

I waited a few moments but Lisa ended up not answering her phone again so I left her text, telling her to please call back once she gets the message.

I checked the time once more from my phone.

It showed "11pm"

Right then, I had this idea to make a meeting appointment with Captain Carter to find out everything he knows about zombies and this supposedly dangerous virus. I wanted Lisa to join me as well, but I thought it'd be best to leave her alone if she didn't wanna talk to me.

So I searched for the Precinct's hotline number online, and I called one of the staff members to arrange an appointment with Captain Carter. Apparently, it was scheduled this Saturday (which was tomorrow) at 12pm, so I agreed to it.

With that said, I tried to get a good night's rest but it didn't seem to go as planned because of all the mental torment I was in the entire time. But somehow I managed to get through the night and went on ahead to meet Captain Carter at 12pm the very next day.

Soon after I arrived at the Precinct, Officer Scott came by and wished me a good afternoon.

"Hey Kyle, I heard you had an appointment right around this time with the Captain?" He said, as I nodded.

"Yes, I know it's troublesome for me but it's personal, and there are things that I wanna know. I bet even you know what I'm talking about", I replied, as he looked the other way with a worried expression on his face.

"I understand, go on ahead to the Captain's office. He's waiting", Scott replied, while he went back to his post.

I rolled my eyes as I went to meet the Captain to finally uncover the truth that lies behind the mystery of these vile cannibals...
