Chapter Ten: The Calling

Gabriel had been walking for what felt to him like several hours. He wasn't entirely sure if he was even still in Outworld or not. But he knew that he had to keep walking. He had heard Kara's voice in his head. And whether that was a memory long passed or spell, he knew he had to find her.

At the very least he knew that he wanted to make sure she was safe. He wanted to protect her. Something that he hadn't truly felt like doing in a very long time. Something he never entirely thought that he would have to do again. She had gotten so strong. She had almost killed him at him at one point. And he still had the scars of that battle. He remembered the last words he had heard her say to him. She seemed so sure of herself at that time.

She used to be so timid about things. She used to always feel sorry for herself and that was something that annoyed him. But the last time he saw her, something had changed within her. He had to feel as though it was to do with their history. But also perhaps because she had been training so much. She was independent, and she didn't exactly need him. Perhaps that's why she chose to walk away.

" No..she walked away because you took from her something that you can never give back" he argued to himself.

" Of course she had the right to leave. And of course she wouldn't want to see him. Since they had been apart, he had thought of ways to apologise for what he did. But he knew deep down, that he never could. There was never going to be anything that he could do to make what happened okay.

He had his chance with her, and he blew it every single time period multiple chances and he screwed it up.. He would give anything to go back to those days. There were so many things that he would have done differently. Victoria was a great person, and an honorable warrior. But she wasn't Kara.

No one could ever take Kara's place. He always knew that and yet he had tried so hard to replace her. He had tried so hard to move forward and do something new with his life. But all he ended up doing was finding comfort in the bottom of a bottle. That is why he had been drinking. He wanted to numb the pain of losing her. If he didn't, he wasn't sure if he would be able to live his life at all. But, was he even really living? This was something Gabriel struggled to cope with for so long.

When he finds her, when he is sure she is safe. That is when he can stop. He would not give up until then. He would not waver until then. Even if she didn't want him to save her. Even if she wanted someone else instead of him, he would still save her. Or at least he would try to. He had to.

The desert was harsh and the sand was like fire even under Gabriel's shoes. The air was only warm though, which made no sense to him. This entire place made no sense to him. It seemed like Hell and yet somehow seemed to barren to be Hell. He continued walking for what he assumed was about 4 days. He was hungry and he was thirsty, but he knew he would find no relief for that in this hellscape. He would have to keep going until he did find something. He just hoped he didn't die before then.

Kara remained chained to the wall, the hunger and thirst had stopped for her long ago. She was alone and she was numb. She thought about all the things that she had experienced. All the things that the illusions had said to her. She thought about the lie she had told everyone. On some level, it had started because she wanted Gabriel to feel jealous. She had planned on telling him before he had attacked her. But she didn't get the chance. And then she told Raven. She didn't intend to lie to Raven but she did and that was another person she would need to apologize to.

She had just felt so empty at the time. She had felt like she would never see Gabriel again. She felt she had lost him to Victoria yet again and it hurt. It hurt so bad within her. All Gabriel ever did was break her heart, almost as though it was his profession. And yet..she still loved him. And when he finally told her that he loved her too, When he finally made that confession, she knew she had say no. She didn't feel worthy anymore. She had lied and she didn't want to ever have the truth come out. She had caused him pain too and she realized that trying to make him hurt was not going to solve anything. A realization that had come too late. He deserved to move on and find happiness with someone who wasn't as fucked up as she was. That is what she felt inside. She didn't deserve him. And yet she wanted him. She wanted him more than she wanted life itself. If he had asked her to give up her Kingdom she would. If he had asked her to lay down her life for him, she would. She would do anything that he asked of her.

But they could no longer play this game any more. She had to tell him. If she survived this somehow. If she found a way out of here. If she found a way out of this hellhole she was in currently. She would sit down, and she would tell him everything. She would explain everything to him and let him decide for himself on how he feels about it. And she would accept whatever he said.

" Gabriel...I love you...I fucking miss you and I need you here. I need you now. Please..I need my Protector"

Gabriel falls to the ground from sheer exhaustion onto the hot sand. " Gabriel" her voice rang through his head yet again. Gabriel, clenched onto the burning sand and made it back to his feet. " I need you" The voice echod through his head again. " Gabriel could a burning sensation coursing through his body " I'm losing my mind " Gabriel mumbled as he started slowly taking steps foward.

" My Protector" Kara's voice sang through his mind again. This time, his body began to shift on its own. " What the hell" He had complete control over his shifting abilities so for this to happen in the way that it did, made no sense to him. " GABRIEL! NOW! " Kara's voice shot through his head, making his golden eyes Glow brightly. Symbols began forming on his body, Glowing golden as well. These Symbols seemed to be a an Ancient Lycan set of runes. They were made long before Gabriel's time and so it could not translate them. But they glowed, bigger and brighter than the sun itself. And he was ready. He had to find Kara. He had to find his Mate
