Chapter 35: This is George

Brooke wasn’t sure how she should feel about being tested by Nathan’s pack. But she could feel herself going back and forth between anger and sadness. She wasn’t a shifter, so staying outdoors in the winter would not be the same for her as it was for them. They had to know and understand that. She could see the disappointment in Nathan’s eyes at her refusal, but she couldn’t just accept this kind of test, not after everything she’d already been through. Losing her parents, being in hiding, her cabin getting shot up, learning about her hunter/familiar history… enough is enough. She didn’t need arbitrary trials to prove her resilience and gain respect.

“Brooke, you will never have to face anything alone. Not so long as I am here. But, we can’t refuse. We have until the next full moon. I’ll think of something.”
