A BIT OLDER

CHAPTER 9- A BIT OLDER

I ran outside of the palace gates, a breeze blowing through my pink floral dress.

Since I got permission from the father (Unintentionally) I can now leave the house and explore the city. Come to think of it it's been a while since I ran about outside.

But sitting down in the library reading about the interesting history this world has is more appealing. In my past life, my favourite subject was history.

Of course, the emperor wouldn't let me go alone so I am accompanied by Claudette, Marianne, and last but not least Kane the knight.

I think I've gotten pretty used to having them around, they are very kind to me.

As we got to the main square of the capital, the large crowds, loud voices, and the hustle and bustle of the city were becoming too much for my little child's brain to handle.

Turning I spotted a shop with a jewel on the front, a jewellery store!

I ran up the store

"Princess please don't run!" Claudette yelled her and the others following behind me

When I entered the store everything seemed very plain and simple, there was a lot of beautiful jewellery on the racks.

"Welcome welcome!" The shopkeeper said with delight

"Is there anything that catches your fancy miss?" [she's young, young children without proper supervision tend to just buy the most expensive things they can find]

"Do you have anything basic? Nothing too pricey I just want to give a gift" I said with glee, I want to win over the 2nd prince. From what I'm aware he isn't really into materialistic things but it wouldn't hurt to give him a little present.

I began to look around more noticing the somewhat irritated look on the shop owner's face- what's his problem?

Well since I'm here might as well spoil myself a bit... Oh yeah! I should probably get something for Sorren too. I'm, sure he'd appreciate a present.

I noticed a beautiful Lion shaped broach which immediately caught my eye. This would look great on papa...

"Do you like it miss?" Kane asked me

"Yeah! I want to get it as a present for daddy!" I said excitedly

Kane looked shocked but kept a firm smile on his face. I don't want to dig too deep into it so I picked up the broach case and continued to look around. Everything looked amazing.

In the end, I picked up a pink bow with a gem in it, the lion broach, A pair of golden rings with have half a butterfly on each, and lastly a diamond hairpin.

Other than the strange shop owner this place was great, I should come back here soon.

Claudette took my boxes of me and began carrying them. "M'lady, would you be hungry by chance?"

"Yes I'm a bit peckish"

"There's a café on the other side of the street if you'd like to try the food there?"

.

.

.

Sitting on the café patio eating the delicious food they had served, I had just finished with my food and was about to ask the waitress for dessert when I noticed a crowd forming from across my eye.

There came the yelling.

Curiosity got the best of me and I began to push my way through the crowd. "Princess please wait for a second!" Kane said trying to squeeze through the crowd with me.

In the centre I saw was I assumed to be a nobleman screaming at a lady In comment clothes whilst hiding her face.

What the hell is going on?

"You stupid bitch! Cant, you do anything right?" The man hollered

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to"

"Oh you will be; trust me ragged old hag"

How noisy.

Stepping forward I stood myself between the man and the lady, my expression resembling that of the emperors. Cold.

"What happens to be the problem here sir?"

"What who the hell are you?" Noticing I was a child "Damn brat. Did your daddy never teach you how to mind your own business? Now move!"

"What did you just say to me" I began looking up at him, my typical sweet blue gaze filled with a hazy mist

"For the love of God move!" He went to push me only to be knocked down by an invisible force

"What the-" A sword pointed at his throat

"How dare you to speak to the lady in such a disgusting tone?" Kane grimaced

"Now who do you two think you are pointing a sword at a high-ranking noble?" The man began yelling once again "I can have you both beheaded for this."

Digging into my dress's breast pocket Pulling out a golden broach with an easily recognizable symbol on the front, the Lions rose. The sign for the Oraylea kingdom.

These broaches are only made for Imperial family members.

I dangled the broach with the chain in front of the now dazzled man's face

I knew I had gotten his full attention when his face became to turn pale as if he had seen a ghost

"Do you care to explain what you were doing to this lady just now?"

"She owes me a lot of money! I saved her and her bastard siblings from dying on the street and in return she's nothing but useless!"

"I see..." I put my hand on my chin "How much does she owe you?"

"Let's see.. about 10 gold"

10 gold? That's a lot, what could he have possibly spent on her? Even if he is lying, who cares.

I grab my coin pouch and throw the gold at the man's face. "Now get lost and stop making a scene"

The man looked shocked before collecting the gold and running off. Shaking my head I turned back to the woman and began helping her back off the ground

She seemed very thankful.

"That was very heroic of you princess! You're so smart for your age" Kane smiled, he seemed happy yet I could hear the hesitation in his voice

Was he suspicious of me, Had I blown my cover?

I just wanted to help but maybe I sounded a bit mature for my age...

I'll have to watch that for future references...

My hair was being braided and my clothes fixed, tonight was day 1 of the party. Dawn was upon us and everything is prepared.

stepping down from the stool I turned to face the maids all of them with gleaming looks on their faces.

"Your highness you look absolutely beautiful!"

"She's adorable!" They cooed

Yeah, I did look beautiful... But will a certain someone think so as well?

I truly hope so.

My survival as a villainess depends on it!
