Daichi smashed the glass pane with his fist, due to his higher stats, breaking through a pane of glass wasn't a big deal. Just a few minutes ago, Daichi's hammer disappeared into thin air, so now he needed a new weapon. Thankfully, there were some fire axes kept inside the garage of the fire station and Daichi was sure that nobody was going to complain even if took all of them.
Daichi grabbed the ax and gave it a few swings… A satisfied grin appeared on his face, the ax was much like the hammer Bella had given him, the ax a little bit lighter towards the head. "Should we kill all the Zombies or should we grab a couple of trucks and leave?" Saeko questioned and after thinking for a bit, Daichi finally made his decision.
"There are no survivors here, so we don't need to waste our time" Daichi shook his head. "Takagi-san, did you find the keys?" Daichi called out. He had no idea where the keys were kept, but Yuriko knew, so he left the responsibility to Yuriko.
There were still a lot of Zombies inside the building, but all of them were trapped on the top floor. After clearing the ground floor, Daichi asked Bella to block the staircase, and she decided that it was fitting to engulf the staircase with flames. Bella thought that it was fitting for the fire station to have some flames, after all, she was outraged when she discovered that even though the place was a fire station, it didn't have a fire inside it.
"Yes! I found them" Yuriko answered as she walked out of the nearby room with several keys in her hand. "I didn't know which key belonged with which truck so I decided to bring them all" Yuriko added as she showed off the keys to Saeko and Daichi. It took them just a minute to get two of the fire trucks started.
Saeko decided to travel with Yuriko, while Daichi decided to take Bella with him. There was no way that Daichi would risk Bella traveling with someone other than him. Bella was much worse than a loose cannon and the safety of everyone besides her depended on her mood and her mood swings were much faster than disco lights.
So, without wasting any more time, the four of them drove out of the fire station with two fire trucks. "Milord, how is this contraption moving? Bella doesn't see any horses pulling then and Bella can also see Threstals, there aren't Thresals…" Bella tilted her head in confusion.
"You have my interest, what is a Threstal?" Instead of answering Bella's question, Daichi asked his own question. He really wanted to know what Threstals were.
"Oh… Threstals are marvelous creatures, milord. They are bigger, bony, and leathery versions of horses. Oohh… they also have massive wings, so obviously they could fly. You can only see Threstals after you have witnessed death, Bella could see them since she was 12… She also loved to feed them from time to time" Bella explained with an insane glint in her eyes and the insanity in her eyes increased as her explanation progressed.
Daichi took a few moments to digest everything Bella had just said. He knew that Bella's childhood was extremely rough, but he still wondered whose death Bella witnessed when she was only 12. "…Do you miss your world?" Daichi questioned carefully after a few moments of silence. He had read her background from the Mana Archive, but he still wanted to know what Bella felt.
After hearing Daichi's question, Bella sagged in her seat. "…There is nothing left for Bella in that world. Bella was considered a monster in that world and Bella was proud of that… I have killed so many people that I have lost the count long ago. Bella doesn't even remember most of their faces!!" Bella cackled in mad glee. Now, Daichi regretted asking the question, he had ended up opening a can of worms.
"If I had stayed in that world then Bella would have ended up killing everyone, Bella hated the fact that everyone other than Bella had a chance to live their lives, they had their own families, but Bella didn't have anyone… Well, all of that in the past, now, I have you, milord" Bella grinned with a fanatical look on her face. Daichi wouldn't be surprised if Bella decided to make a shrine in his honor… she was a complete fanatic.
Bella squealed like a little girl as she continued to giggle. "… I am sorry, Bella, I shouldn't have asked that… I reminded you of some bad memories" Daichi said in a saddened tone.
"No worries, milord. Bella was happy in that world too, even though she didn't have any purpose or any Lord to serve, she loved killing and torturing. Those are Bella's favorite hobbies when she has nothing else to do" Bella giggled like a little girl and Daichi didn't know how to react, but he vowed that he was going to keep her happy. They weren't going to have any shortage of people to kill or torture in an apocalyptic world like this.
"We are here…" Daichi muttered as he positioned the fire truck inside the gas station. "Let me start filling the truck, then I will tell you how this contraption works" Daichi hasn't forgotten that Bella had asked him a question. Bella beamed at Daichi as he still remembered her question even though she no longer remembered that she had asked something.
Daichi finally jumped down from the truck. "Daichi-kun, one of the wolves has gone missing" All of a sudden, Saeko poured cold water over his happiness. "I have tried to see if the body was dragged or not, but the blood disappeared only after a meter, I think they put it on a vehicle or something like that" Saeko added hurriedly.
"At least, whoever they were, they didn't take the body of the Level 2 Zombie…" Daichi growled in annoyance. "Bella, is there any way you can track the body?" Daichi asked, but he wasn't hopeful. Thankfully, the Level 2 wolf was simply way too big to carry by car, if the Level 2 wolf had been taken, then he would have been extremely pissed.
Bella immediately shook her head with a sullen look on her face. "If Bella had added a Tracking Charm, then she could have done it…" Bella answered with a defeated look on her face, Bella felt like she had failed her Lord and that she was why she looked so defeated.
"It is fine… there is no need to worry…" Daichi decided to dismiss the topic. It was their loss and there was nothing he could do. Since the wolf body was taken, Daichi was sure that they were being watched, that must be why whoever they were, they decided to make their move after all of them left. He was sure that if he searched all of the nearby buildings then he would find them, but he didn't have time.
'I should have left someone behind' Daichi thought, after all, that was the only way he could have kept the meat bodies safe. 'I have nobody to blame besides me…' Daichi released a sigh. "I am the one to blame, I should have left someone behind to keep an eye" Daichi admitted aloud.
"No…" "Daichi-kun…" Bella and Saeko started to protest at the same time, but Daichi cut them off.
"No arguments. As a Leader, I must accept and admit my mistakes or there would be no way that I could better myself" Daichi said in a no-nonsense tone and nobody could form any arguments against that. After all, there was no way that he could have shoved all the bodies inside the Humvee and even if he had shoved all the bodies in the office of the gas station, the people responsible for taking the wolf corpse could still have taken it with extreme ease.
"Takagi-san, can you check the Humvee and replug the fuses?" Daichi requested as he handed over the fuses to Yuriko. After watching Daichi admit his mistake even though she couldn't call it a mistake, her respect for Daichi increased. She couldn't help but feel that Daichi was quite an interesting guy and she wouldn't mind if they became somewhat close in the future.
As soon as Yuriko thought that, she chastised herself for thinking like that. Daichi was only a couple of years older than her own daughter, how could she even think like that. She shook her head and accepted the fuses… "Sure…" Yuriko muttered, looking slightly distracted as once again her mind started to drift toward the naughty side. After Saya was born, Souichiro had barely touched her, so she was extremely unsatisfied. How could she not get excited when such a handsome hunk was walking around her.
"Saeko, help me get the fuel line" meanwhile, Daichi decided to fill the fire trucks with gas. Daichi had already checked if the trucks were empty or not back at the fire station, and all of the trucks were empty. So, after he started to fill the trucks, Saeko climbed into the front, so that she could keep an eye on the gauge. There was no need to waste fuel…
While Saeko was keeping an eye on the gauge, Daichi started to explain to Bella how the truck or a car worked…
