"Hmm... I give the medicine already but her fever didn't go down yet. I called you to take a file of leave of absence for the next two days. You don't need to come here, Molly. I told you I'm taking care of her. Besides, I called our family doctor to prescribe an effective medicine and check her up if needed. Okay, I'll update you later."
As soon as he ends the call, he heard Kinrue groan and shivers in cold pulling the comforter to cover her body. He turns off the air-con and even wipe her body using a clean cold towel, but the temperature was still the same. Since Kinrue insist not to go home, they went straight to his house. She fell asleep right after she lied down to bed. In the middle of the night, she started groaning like in pain somewhere and her body already feels hot. He gives her a medicine, but it only subsides for a few hours and the fever arises again. Kinrue didn't want to go to the hospital so Raven insisted on at least let the doctor come in the house to check up on her and she agree.
"Hmm..."
"Hey elf, are you still cold? The doctor will come in a few minutes. Don't be stubborn and listen to her."
They wait for their family doctor to come and it took almost half an hour before she came. She checks up on her as soon as possible per Raven's demand while he just stare at them, leaning on the door while cross both arms. In the middle of waiting for the result to come, he unconsciously tapping his index finger. The doctor notice his behavior and chuckle that startled him.
"You don't need to worry Raven, it's just a simple cold. She just need a lot of rest, take the medicine and eat on time." The doctor said while removing the stethoscope.
"If it's a normal cold, why her fever didn't go down since last night?" He asked, standing straight.
"She has a weak body at the same time under a lot of stress. If it doesn't go down by the end of the day, just call me again."
"Thanks,"
"Who is she? Girlfriend?" She asked, but he didn't give a straightforward answer and look in Kinrue's direction.
"Don't tell to my parents that I called you over here. Can you do me that favor?"
The doctor gives a short laugh and fixes her things. "No worries, I won't tell anyone about this since it is the first time I saw you with that kind of reaction."
"R-reaction? What reaction I have?" He asked.
"It's rare to see you get worried about someone you're not close. Besides, this is the first time you let someone lie down on your bed." He didn't give a single comment and look away.
The doctor is right. He hates someone who sleeps with him in the same bed or having a thought of letting anyone lie on his bed. But in her case is different. As soon as he looks away, something terrible will happen to the woman. He can only feel comfortable and no worries if she's under his observation. It's her tears' fault. If she didn't cry that night or tremble in fear, he won't sympathize with her.
"She has an empty head. If I didn't watch her 24/7, she'll do something that might harm her in the dumbest way." He said.
"I see. I believe whatever you said so, I'll prescribe these medicines and let her take it based on how many times I wrote."
"Fine. I'll take care of it."
"I'll take my leave now, let her rest for a while and take the medicine after eating."
"Okay, I'll walk you outside."
He walks the doctor outside and sees her off before going back inside. Kinrue sleeps more comfortably than before after the doctor injects some medicine for the cold. He heaves a sigh, walks closer, and fixes the comforter without glancing at her when his phone rings. He looked at the bedside table and saw an unexpected name on the screen. It says, 'Coach Lenard' it's been a while since he last get in contact with him. For a second, he thinks twice about picking up or not, but in the end, he answers the phone call.
"Hello? Coach, it's been a while."
"Raven, it's been a while. Are you busy? I have something to tell you."
"Do we need to meet each other? I need to watch someone here so I couldn't make time to meet you up."
"It's alright. We don't need to meet up for now. I just want you to know that the National Swimming Team is accepting new members to train this upcoming month. You're qualified to apply for it. Maybe just seeing your profile will accept you right away." He heard a chuckle on the other side, but Raven gives a faint smile.
"Coach, I appreciate the concern, but I already quit swimming. I don't think I can make it again, sorry."
"Raven, is it about the last match again? Can't you move on? You have a great potential so it's not good to waste your talent."
"Hmm..." Raven glance towards Kinrue who's frowning her brows. He pat her head unconsciously, that made her stop moving.
"Are you still there, Raven?"
"Yeah, I hear you Coach, but I don't think I can do it anymore."
"I respect your decision, but think again and call me back if you change your mind."
"Okay, thank you, Coach. Let's meet up sometimes."
He ends the call with a heavy sigh.
***
It's already past 3 o'clock in the afternoon when Raven came inside the room to check on Kinrue's condition. He came with a tray that has a bowl of porridge, water and medicine. After taking a bath, he cooked some porridge for her to eat in case she's awake. Right in time, as soon as he walks inside, Kinrue's trying to sit down. He put the tray on the bedside table and help her. They stare at each other for a short time but look away as reality hits them.
Raven didn't waste any time and check her temperature and it went down a little, which is a good sign. He gets the bowl of porridge and a spoon before giving it to Kinrue.
"Eat this if you want to get better," He said.
"I'm not hungry. I need to go home."
"Home? In your condition?" His voice raises a little. It annoys Kinrue, but she has no strength to waste on him. Her body still feels a little heavy, and she felt dizzy. "Stay here and get better. You caused me a lot of problems since yesterday, so why don't you enjoy it to the fullest while I'm nice?"
"H-huh? Who told you to take care of me? You can kick me out of here like what you did befor—mph,"
Before she can finish those words, Raven gets a spoonful of the porridge and feeds her. She gives him a death glare, but he just ignores it, avoiding her gaze. A long silence lingers inside. It's an awkward silence. He gets another spoonful and was about to feed her, but she didn't eat it.
"Are you not going to eat properly?"
"I'm not hungry!"
"Eat another two or three spoonful, then take the medicine afterwards,"
"I said I don't want to eat anymore. Can't you understand any single words I said, you sh*thead!" A force irritated smile escape from Raven's mouth.
He let out a short force laugh before putting the bowl on the tray again. Like what he thought, once this woman wakes up he'll regret getting worried about nothing.
"This is frustrating. Just looking at you makes me so damn frustrated." He said, mumbling to himself. "I'm like an idiot taking care of another idiot,"
"Argh! What did you say? Are you pertaining to me as an idiot?"
"Yeah, you're an idiot and I feel like getting infected by that incurable disease."
Kinrue's blood keeps raising just hearing his voice. She's about to hit him but ends up leaning on his chest as her head feels dizzy in a simple abrupt move. It startled Raven and thought something happen but she's breathing heavy.
"Hey, are you okay?"
"I-It's your damn fault,"
"Why is it me again?"
"Y-you're an annoying piece of sh*t," she said out of nowhere and look up at him as their gaze met. "Sh*t head!"
"Y-you... Don't you think you should put something useful inside that damn empty head?"
"Sh*thead, you're a really annoying piece of garbage!" She said with low but full of anger tone.
Without words of warning, she pulls down the collar of his shirt and bites him on the side of neck. It made him flinch—groaning in pain as she didn't let go until got push away lightly. Raven looks at her with annoyance, but she just glares back as if a cat is ready to attack anyone in sight.
"D*mn, it looks like you're fine to go insane. Why the hell did you bite me? It hurts, you damn empty head." He said, vexing his anger.
"Serves you f*cking right, sh*thead!"
"Y-you..."
They're about to attack each other. Kinrue acts as if she'll bite him again while Raven pinch both her cheeks. Both are giving each other a death glare that added in the intense atmosphere, not until they heard the door slam open and saw the unexpected visitor they didn't wish to see.
"What the hell are you two doing?"
