After I told Patty the truth about Stephen and me, the news spread around the clinic. Even without that, I knew they would have found out eventually since either Paul or Mom could just as easily visit. 


I knew, because of my choice, I would have some strange looks in the future. Mom found a good, rich husband, so of course, I grabbed the man's son. People might not understand, or might misconstrue the truth behind our relationship, but... I couldn't care less. 


As long as my own Mom was on my side, I had Stephen with me, and even his dad was on our side, what else did I have to fear? 


The judgment was something I'd decided to face head-on, but it was best to confront that in the future when it actually came. Then, I would confront it with sophistication and calm. 


I knew Stephen would be there for me all the way.
