Chapter 13

Julian Bless

It had been another day-and-a-half of fast movement. Julian's ankle was feeling much better, but only because of the nano-splint. If he hadn't been walking all day, it might have healed by now with the help of stem cells. But he had no choice in the matter.

The sun had just gone down, and the small group walked through a valley. Green lush grass grew in the soil-rich earth. An array of wildlife - mainly small vermin of the rodent and marsupial kind - hurried about here and there, avoiding contact.

Citizen was back to her normal hundred percent strength and speed. Sid had been doing the scouting. And Bless and the rest of his group had little food and even less rest over the last few days.

Everyone's tired, but they're Elysium. They're used to a challenging pace.

Bless was debating how far he should push the group tonight when Sid ran into view, making barking noises.

Citizen ran up to meet the bot, tapped him on the head, then ran up to the nearest hill.
