Chapter 13

Paul reveled in beating Kade to the truth about Hacken. It rubbed Kade wrong, but they were partners; if one got a lead, it helped them both.

He lounged on the worn leather sofa in Paul's apartment with his laptop resting on his lap. Still, now they needed to review the list of remaining suspects.

Paul paced between the couch and coffee table. "Did you notice how pale Ruby was? She never gets sick." He stepped toward the kitchen, then retraced his route. "Why wouldn't she go to a doctor? I asked her and she said she'd be fine."

"Then she will. It's probably just the flu." An early flu? It was only August. Not unheard of though.

Thank God, Tackett had taken the day off because of his anniversary. Kade didn't think he could take another stakeout without a solid eight hours sleep.

Kade punched the buttons on the laptop of potential suspects and sent the list to Tackett's assistant Janice so she could contact them and arrange for them to come into the station.
