"You're gonna have to call him back." Crystal lay on her sister's bedroom floor with her bare feet propped up on the bed.  


"Delaying makes this harder." She loosened the top button on her jean shorts. Even if they convinced the uncles to agree to postpone jobs for a few weeks or so, they'd frown if Crystal wasn't in shape when they resumed. She lifted her hands behind her head and did crunches. "Why don't you tell him over the phone? Easier than facing him, don't you think?"  "And cowardly." Ruby threw a pillow at Crystal and she laughed.  


Crystal hadn't had a steady boyfriend since freshman year of college. If you can call one day of holding hands in the auditorium while watching an anti-drug/alcohol movie going steady.
