Chapter 33

When Kade slouched against the wall in the living room, Crystal nearly tripped down the stairs.

She gripped the railing.

"Isn't Kade under-dressed for Chez François?" Ruby asked. To hide her wound she wore a black silk blouse that buttoned down the front. An arm splint and sling in place. Her turquoise dress flashed her knees as she sat on the couch beside Paul.

"Paul decided to put the case aside for the night and have a wonderful evening out. He'll show his badge if they give us any problems." Kade laughed. "But I'm too tired to rush to the apartment and change. Jeans are more comfortable, anyway."

"Hope you don't mind, but we need to hurry to meet our reservations." Paul held Ruby's hand as they sauntered to his car. "It was the only time available on short notice." Crystal bit her lip. She didn't know that Kade was coming with them.
