Terrance talked to his boss, and after lunch the next day, I was set to cover the windows in our living area with sheets to help keep in the warmth and maybe make it so we didn't have to use so much energy to heat the place. I even received my very own housekeeping cart to help me carry sheets and tacks from room to room.
The conference room was smaller, and tall stacks of chairs lined one wall. I was pretty sure every spare chair was kept in this room.
I stood on top of a stepladder tacking up the last corner of a sheet when my skin prickled with awareness. I was being watched. Taking a deep breath, I steadied my nerves and peeked over my shoulder.
My whole body jolted, and a wave of relief swept through me. The familiar dark eyes staring back at me from across the room were a welcome presence.
Anything was welcome to those two creeps from the day before. I saw them everywhere now. Eating meals, during work parties, walking the halls.
