Please Let It Be a Dream

The trip back to the hotel was much quieter. Luke was passed out in the backseat, and Steph was asleep next to Hong Gi, who was driving. Hong Gi was thankful. He couldn't take another round of bickering with Luke.

He admired the way Steph and her family handled him, though. Much better than he did, that was for sure. Luke was one of the few people who could get under his skin. Usually, it was over miner stuff, and the storm blew over quickly. Not so much this time. For Steph's sake, though, he was determined to remain calm and cope with Luke's shenanigans at least long enough to see him off to California.

Hong Gi couldn't believe Luke had bailed on the movie. It wasn't like him. It meant he was in real distress, but Hong Gi wasn't sure how to get through to him that he didn't need to be. He loved Luke and would never desert his brother for anyone unless Luke forced him into a situation where he didn't have a choice.
