Awake with a Bang

Steph opened her eyes to the top half of Luke's pinked head peeking over the edge of the bed.

"You're pretty," Luke said, his glassy eyes never leaving her face.

It had to be a dream. Luke would never say something so nice to her. But then he sneezed, and more of him came into view. That more was bare to the waist. Nope, not a dream. No one ever sneezed in her dreams, and she never dreamed of Luke.

She rolled to her other side, looking for Hong Gi, who was on his stomach on the opposite side of the bed with one arm slung over the edge. His back was bare and glorious, but right now, Steph had more pressing concerns. She patted him on the back. "Hong Gi, Hong Gi, wake up."

Hong Gi grunted but didn't move.

"He was up taking care of me until a little while ago," Luke said.

"Why are you here?"

"I was sick."

"And that is why you lost your shirt?"

Luke jutted a chin at her. "You lost more than a shirt."
