CHAPTER 37

Susan and Viscount William sat side by side on the bench as they talked. It was a hard thing to do when Madeline's words weighed heavily on Susan's mind. She couldn't be pregnant. The blaggard had made sure of that. She hated that Madeline had put ideas in her head and now her mind was all over the place. 

She would have loved nothing more than to blame her poor health on her emotional state. All the crying she had done after their separation might have finally caught up to her, but what if there was more to it? What if she was carrying the devil's child? She took her time to search her memory for any mishap during their time together but nothing appeared to her. How was she even supposed to remember anything when they both always lost their senses any time they were together?
