Chapter 31

I already have enough on my hands. Being suspected by the school might put an end to my sanity and bring forth the other personality that I have inside my head.

"If you still want to report this incident, then you must go on your own. However, you will still be putting me on the edge since the school will ask who you were with. They are gonna review the surveillance cameras, and they will notice that I am with you. Since I told you that I'll be a person of interest, you will lie to them about who's with you by the time you discover the body. But since they know that we are together, they might suspect that you are covering for me and conspiring with murder. I bet you don't want that happening, right?"

"You are right. Yes, let's leave before someone sees us here."

Ira explained to me that only those who are incapable of continuing the special exam are allowed to withdraw. I was planning on going to the infirmary but decided to just lay low and wait for the special exam to end.

"The two of us can always go to the clinic after this special exam."

If anyone is gonna ask me what I feel right now, I am tired. Not just physically but also mentally exhausted. In one hour, so many things had happened to me that my mind could only slowly process every piece of information. Gladly, the stuck on my throat and heart were gone, and I could peacefully breathe again. However, I feel terribly sick, and my head is aching.

Ira, too was showing signs of exhaustion. I could hear him breathe heavily as we moved away from the bloody scene we stumbled upon. To think that we would see a slaughtered body of a student in the middle of the forest when it is supposed to be a special exam is just so insane.

I feel absolutely determined to get away from the scene, the dead body, to forget and not get involved in it because I have a hunch that had we stayed there any longer, it won't end well for us.

"Why do you keep looking at me, Ira? Is there something on my face?"

"Uh, no. You're looking better than I had reckoned."

"Oh, it's like when I took that pill. I'm undoubtedly better, but I do feel

exhausted, and my head is being drilled by the pain."

And the more I run or jog, the more painful the headache gets.

"Having you check by a professional later will be better. Who knows what you're feeling is."

My toxic trait was telling me to bully my worried friend but vaguely recalling how he took care of me earlier stopped me from doing so. Ira's genuine care for his friend was something I did not want to ruin. It is a moment I need to carve on my mind so that I won't forget.

One can have as many friends as they want, but only a few of them are real. A friend that would treat you and care for you unconditionally. However, not every kind of friend should be taken advantage of. It's give and take. Or as the golden rule says, precept in the Gospel of Matthew (7:12): "In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you."

"Thank you," genuinely, I said.

My words came from my heart. Sincere gratitude on my side. If it was not for Ira, the worst thing possible might have happened to me by now. His strong desire to save me, even though there is the possibility of encountering other students and having both of our flags stolen, must have definitely helped a lot.

Ira said he performed CPR on me, but I asked him if he blew air into my mouth, and he freaked out.

"So that's the reason why you were not waking up! I totally forgot about that! All I did was keep on pushing 2 inches deep on your chest! All is well now, so I am just gonna keep this myself as a lesson."

And the two of us even found the strength to laugh after the horrifying

scene we both saw. Things like this make you forget about exhaustion and all problems you have. That's why laughter is the best medicine. But keep in mind that you should not laugh when there is nothing to laugh at or something is not funny unless you wanna be labeled crazy by laughing for no reason.

It is another thing if you're Joker, though.

Anyways, so far, fortunately, only five minutes are left on the clock, and the two of us haven't encountered any students ever since we part ways with Ms. Cristina and Austin. The dead body was, of course, not counted since it's already a corpse, and I am talking about students capable of stealing our flags.

[Beeeeep! The special exam ends now! Everyone, time is up! Okay, you can all go to the mini-park. The professors are there. Those on the east side of the forest go to mini-park 2 and, of course, those on the other side are to go to mini-park 1!]

"It's finally over, huh? Phew! Now we don't have to hide like rats anymore."

The relief on our faces when the special exam... We are just glad that there is no need to run around anymore, and no more students are gonna get hurt.

A crowd of students immediately formed in the mini-parks, collecting their phones from their professor and hastily scanning the QR code on the flag.

[200 Account Points]

[4 Personal Points]

[Leaderboard Rank Number 11]

Unluckily, I am not in the top 3. Well, it is also good since I don't have to worry being at the bottom 3. 200 AP is better than have my AP get deducted, and my grades will be at the receiving end. But there is no prize for us, only the points I have gotten from four captured flags.
