Chapter 31: Lingerie

Rebecca rolled down the window of the 4Runner as she navigated through San Jose traffic, allowing the wind to ruffle through her curly hair. It felt so freeing to have it unstraightened and unbound.

Nico’s idea had been brilliant. The salon beauticians had worked magic, and had managed to tame her curls so they were soft, smooth, and manageable.

She’d done significant damage to her hair with the endless straightening—another reason to curse Blaze Hutchinson—so she’d ended up getting a considerable haircut to cut off split and damaged ends as well as multiple hair repair treatments. Well, it would grow back, and the head stylist had fashioned a short style that was attractive and—well—made her look beautiful.

It had been a long time since she’d felt beautiful.

They’d also taught her the best way to care for her curls, and loaded her up with products to use—leave-in conditioner, styling cream, styling spray, touch-up cream, hair serum. The list seemed endless.
