Chapter 33: Heaven

Luke woke with a start the next morning, rubbing his eyes hastily as he realized that he was in an unfamiliar place.

He jumped when something moved beside him, and memories of the previous night poured back into his head when he saw the buzzed head on the pillow.

Luke bit back a smile and relaxed into the pillow again.

Abel lay beside him with his arm slung across Luke's stomach and his lips parted as he slept soundly.

Luke wrapped his arm around Abel's waist and bowed his head into his bare chest.

After sharing mind-melting bliss, Abel persuaded Luke—whose mind was like putty, his rationality obscured—to stay the night. Lying down next to Abel at the end of the night was the most intensely affirming part of the evening. Abel pressing his back against Luke's chest and clasping their hands together as if embracing weren't quite enough, filled Luke with contentment unlike anything he'd ever felt.
