Chapter 32: Desire

"Yeah, sure," Luke said, though he was reluctant to pull away from Abel's embrace.

Abel compromised by backing away, but he slid his hand down Luke's wrist to clasp their hands together.

That simple touch lit fireworks in Luke's head. He smiled as he followed behind Abel to his room.

Luke couldn't be too embarrassed about sitting on Abel's bed with him, having spent four hours—which he still didn't remember—sleeping in his bed after his bite. He sat next to him against the pillows, unwilling to let go of his hand for fear that he wouldn't have the confidence to hold it again.

Abel scooted in close to Luke's side, their shoulders and legs touching.

"Damon told me to ask about y'all's parents," Luke said, dark curiosity welling up in him.

Abel groaned and slid sideways to lean his head on Luke's shoulder.

Luke's pulse raced.

"I don't want to think about my parents right now," Abel murmured. "I'll tell you some other time."
