Chapter 44: Carnage

"Abel?" Luke breathed in disbelief.

Abel's eyes flicked away from Luke's as the other members of The Faith swarmed him.

Abel moved with inhuman speed as The Faith members tried to capture him. He fought John off with strength Luke could never have imagined, throwing him across the room. As John's back slammed into a wall and he coughed in pain, Abel grabbed Dillon with an immobilizing grip.

"Wait, stop!" Dillon pleaded.

Abel's teeth ripped through Dillon's skin with a vile shredding sound, and he left behind deep gashes from his blunt teeth. He dropped him to the ground, the purple and red bruises on his neck obscured by the blood gushing from his wounds.

Luke watched the scene as if it was in slow motion. His blood rushed so loudly in his ears that he felt like he was in a wind tunnel; his jaw was slack, his eyes wide, and his mind unable to take in the scene in front of him as something really happening.
