Chapter 29: True Confessions

“Wh-what did he mean about my blood?” Parker asked the moment Drake was gone.

Lucien turned around to look at her, cocking his head to the side slightly. He gave Parker a half-smile, his eyes no longer ready to lunge and kill.

“You shouldn’t be alone with him,” Lucien said.

“Lucien, what he said about my blood being powerful. Why did he keep calling me ‘little angel?’” she asked, ignoring his attempt to change the subject.

Lucien arched an eyebrow, stepping closer until he was standing right in front of her. He reached out to her, and Parker shied away instinctively. Lucien smirked, grabbing something in her hair and pulling it out. He showed it to her, a small candy wrapper that had attached itself to her from the exploded dumpster.

“I don’t know,” he said. “But don’t think I’m letting you off the hook for seeking out a one-on-one with Drake. That was very stupid.”

“Oh,” Parker said, looking down. The insult sank straight into her bones.
