Chapter 39: What Life Should Be

“I was able to learn more about Drake and Caelus than I anticipated,” Damien said. Parker was sitting on the edge of Lucien’s bed. He was sitting beside her and Damien stood in the doorway.

After their shared confessions, Parker felt much closer to Lucien. Her feelings for him deepened every time they were together.

“What did you learn?” Lucien asked.

“Caelus can’t travel by any conventional means,” Damien said. “Prolonged exposure to sunlight weakens him too much and is too painful.”

“That is limiting,” Lucien said with a nod.

“What do you mean?” Parker asked, looking between the brothers.

“He can’t travel by plane. There’s no way to guard against prolonged sun exposure,” Damien clarified.

“Overnight flights wouldn’t cover the distance Caelus has to travel, and he is vulnerable traveling alone. Caelus has been in Europe for centuries,” Lucien added.

“So, he has to cross the Atlantic by some non-conventional travel means?” she asked.
