Raised to Fight

__Lucian's POV__

Lucian stood staring at where the woman had disappeared. It seemed that there was a first for everything. He continued to stand there staring right where the woman had gone back in with the unknown male. Whom he had a sudden deep hatred for.

At first when the woman had stepped out of the bathroom area, she'd kept her gaze down and then looked at him. It seemed like she was going to walk by but then she'd stopped and started to talk to him, like he cared what she had to say.

They said all the same things, liked how he fought. That his wounds looked bad or he was odd. Didn't really phase him, he'd been called and seen a lot of things. These weren't the worst wounds that he'd ever had. But the one on his side was hurting like a bitch and he was pretty sure that it was getting infected. Second he did break a rib, but it was healing and already back in place.

He was surprised that she stopped and just started tending to his wounds. Even if she was doing it so she didn't have to go back inside. No he didn't like what he did, and yes he'd love a new job, well that wasn't completely true. He didn't care what he did to the others. It was just bothersome when he wasn't feeling up to it.

She'd been nice, and gentle while wiping at the wounds even with the sting of the alcohol but he knew that he needed it if he wanted it to heal faster. When she asked if he could talk he just looked at her. Just what the fuck could he have to say to her? He didn't know her, nor cared to know her story, nor who she was.

Though she took it as he couldn't speak, well he could but he'd been told not to. He wasn't allowed to talk if Debutant didn't want him to. He wasn't allowed to move, until he was told he could, though a few movements he could do. He had to breathe right?

The woman had a nice figure, and she was shorter than him. A good amount of soft looking hair that he wanted to touch but couldn't really bring his arms up to do it. Plus she had pretty blue green eyes, he liked eye color. Something drew him for some reason suddenly. Why not, better than what he got to look at most days.

When she'd put that alcohol to his side that had burned like none other, and had he been able, he'd have attacked her. Simply because it hurt bad for a few seconds, but it passed and then she pressed the end of her skirt to it. Which was a kind gesture again, along with how she touched him. She might have been keeping from going back in, but there was genuine caring in her touch and voice. Something different.

Plus he liked her touch, the hand on his stomach was soft and stimulating. He wouldn't mind touching more of her, and why shouldn't he? Well he couldn't thanks to the order, otherwise he would have. Besides he was always rewarded in some way when he did well. He knew that Debutant was happy with his performance even with his remarks before. The stupid collar around his throat kept him in line and in check, he couldn't wait for it to be off.

"Try not to get stabbed again." Were her final words to him, along with a slight smile. People didn't smile at him, not if they knew. Not if they saw what he really was, what Debutant had made. It didn't bother him to be different, just that he couldn't always get what he wanted. His current interest was walking away toward the front area, he'd like to play with her. She'd been nice to him for a few minutes and for no other reason than she wanted to.

"Get in the car, we're leaving." Came Debutant's voice behind him suddenly. Debutant was shorter than him. Lucian stood at six two and him at five ten. But since he was his owner and controlled him he did what he was told. This was how it had always been for Lucian.

"You made me a good side bit of money tonight. Plus got me a few new recruits to milk money from." Lucian just sat in the front staring forward. He wasn't asked to speak so he didn't. Even when he could he didn't, his vocal chords were different than a normal human. He couldn't really speak more than just above a whisper.

"I believe that you have earned a reward, what do you want?" Debutant asked and Lucian still faced forward. His first thought was about that woman, and if he asked Debutant would get her and bring her to him. That was one thing that kept Lucian in line most of the time. He knew that if he did what he was told he'd get whatever reward he wanted. Seriously anything that was within Debutants power and that was a lot.

However he'd also learned that the more risk Debutant had to take for the reward, the more was asked of him before he received it. He didn't think that asking for the Dawn woman would come without a higher price tag and he just didn't feel like paying it at the moment.

"Blood, from the living." He said after a brief pause, and that was something he most definitely wanted. He turned his silver gaze to Debutant. If you looked closely his pupils were more like slits but it was hard to tell unless you really looked.

"Before your games." He added dryly.

"Done, easy enough. I have one I no longer need. Do what you want with him." Lucian faced forward not saying anything else. No need, he was going to get fresh hot blood from a source that was alive and that elated him. During the game that Debutant liked to play he would get badly injured, and there wasn't always time to enjoy it.

"What are you holding to your side?" Debutant asked as his phone went off. He picked it up clearly not caring too much. Lucian forgot that he was still holding it there. He pulled it away looking at the wound which was nearly closed. He picked up the material and brought it up to his face.

He inhaled the scent, her faint scent was still on it. Like a mix of mango and tangerine. He liked that, more than liked that, just like her touch. Ah what such a simple thing could do to a person, and most people didn't even realize how they reacted to the presence of another. To their scent, the feel of them even when they weren't touching you. Thinking about it, he kind of wanted to ask for him to go and get that woman instead. He'd enjoy using her. He didn't get much of that, or at least the satisfying kind of sex most got.

"I don't care, just pick a few out of the crowd and then chase them down. Make sure they aren't going to a major center, or get them before they reach it. I want at least eight to ten, that way we can have some fun." Lucian just stared out into the night. He could see quite a distance, and his eyes weren't like a human's. Second Debutant's words didn't mean anything to him, just another day.

"Make sure you get a mix, mix of types and genders. Remember no evidence." Lucian continued to not pay attention to the conversation that Debutant was having, even with the fact he could hear the other voice on the phone clearly.

Lucian only existed because Debutant had purchased him illegal as an embryo, and that was a fact. Sal Debutant had gotten his parents fortune at the age of sixteen and after spending quite a bit he'd started to make it. He had the legit business of course, but his side business was what made him money. Cosmetics could only get so much, and with that money he'd spent to have a perfect fighting machine. A mix of animal and man, and probably things that shouldn't exist in the normal human world.

There you got Lucian, after a large number of failures, Lucian was a final break through. Him and four others who were now dead because Lucian killed them. It was either them, or him and he wanted to live. The animal part was strong. So were his survival skills and a whole bunch of other things that were by products. Lucian didn't know exactly where Debutant had gotten his material and embryos from. He did however know he'd found several scientists willing to be paid to create what Debutant wanted. So here Lucian was, he was sure he wasn't the only freak in existence serving their master. Lucian had met enough assholes with deep pockets to know money bought a lot of things. Including the living.

"Looks like we will have a game sooner than we thought." Debutant said hanging up his phone and they continued to drive at high speeds. They had a ways to go tonight to get home, and Lucian was starting to get restless as they reached Minnesota. The expanse of forest that they lived in. He needed out of this cramped car and needed to stretch and run.

"Straight down to containment." He didn't argue as they pulled up to the mansion that Debutant lived in. He needed out and so he was out of the car before it was at a complete stop. He jogged more than walked to the back area and went in a door and then down. A doctor was there the second that Lucian was in the room. Which was huge, the size of a gym. Debutant came down and gave the command for the collar to come off.

Lucian tossed it at the door there and then turned tired of being human and exploded into a dead run. The room had a kind of odd material on the floor. Kind of like that of a track, it made it easy for him to get traction, his claws digging in.

Where there had once been a man was now some kind of animal, it was hard to tell just exactly what it was. The body moved like that of a feline, but the facial features were more canine, with the tips of teeth showing. The ears were longer and pointed back along the body as it ran, a severe point to them. The eyes were large and the same grey as Lucian's but the pupil was an extreme vertical slit now. What did you really expect from a genetic mash up? A thing solid to the highest bidder because wherever he'd been originally created had either lost or sold him to someone else to figure out.

The body was easily six feet long, but pushed closer to twelve feet with the tail added. It was long and slender and moved with a fluid control. The end shaped like a spade, but the two lower tips near the tail curved inward slightly with a sharp design. The body didn't have fur that you could see, it looked more like skin, with a black color. Looking closely you could almost see stripes on it. His nostrils flared for a second, the long slits looking a bit more circular.

He launched himself up onto the wall, even though it was concrete. His claws cut into it. All around the room you could see holes and where his claws had cut into it. The claws were three inches long and retractable. When he reached the ceiling area, it reached out with a claw like hand and grabbed onto the beams there and was up on them in a second running across the narrow beams before reaching the other side and coming back down.

The sound of metal sliding back was loud in the room. He froze scenting the air and for a second his tongue flicked out. It was long and blue purple in color, forked slightly. A man stumbled into the room and Lucian came back down to the floor. This was who he was, genetic engineering at its finest he guessed, or someone's trial and error. All he knew was that if he was the scraps thrown away, he'd hate to see the real deal.

Lucian loved the animal part of himself, he wasn't at war with it at all. At the moment he let it have full reign rather than the human part, and contrary to what most thought, there was little difference. The main difference was that humans exercised control. They dwelt on things and knew what true remorse was. They understood humility where an animal would only feel those things for so long in the wild. Things like fear, anger, hate, desire, love, those were all felt the same as a human and for extended periods. They held on to what would let them survive and had to let go of the rest.

It was the petty things, like jealousy, pride, and vanity that animals didn't hold much of. When they felt it, it didn't last long, but would still make them act out. But where man had control, the animal didn't. It wanted and it would get what it wanted. Sometimes patience worked, sometimes not. Lucian found it very hard to corral certain things.

Such as when he was hungry, he didn't see a reason not to appease the appetite and would become irritable and lash out when denied it. When he desired again he didn't see why he should be denied, but he tended to be a bit more denied on that. Unless they were having a betting game, which was going to happen shortly. Lucian was sure they were collecting the unwilling participants as they spoke.
