Tattered Past

Mari just witnessed a bloodbath at the cause of her words. She knew this. She was only trying to make sure that her knees don't fail her now. That was the only thing in her mind.

"Please help us!" A sharp scream came to Mari's ears.

"Oh that's right. I need to go there now." Said Mari.

Her footsteps moving forward were slow and sluggish. It was very apparent that Mari was experiencing something far more than fatigue.

"It's okay. I've got this for us Kai. My love we can be together again." Said Mari.

She reached a separate house near the entrance of the village and saw that it was barred up with a large plank of wood covering the handles.

"This is definitely were I saw them take that lady. I think." Said Mari.

There was scratching at the door. It seemed like whatever was inside was trying desperately to get out because a moment later banging was coming from the other side.

"HELP US!" a lady yelled.

"Calm down lady." Said Mari.

"How dare you imprison us and take our kindness for granted. When I get out of here I'm going to have you beheaded." A lady on the other side of the door said.

"I'm not with them. I saw you earlier and decided to follow you guys. I took care of those guys from earlier." Mari said.

Mari released wood plank that was covering the handles and the banging stopped. It seems like the lady on the other side had heard of this rough movement to release her.

A lady in a white dress that looked much like Vola came out. The only difference was that she did not have any yellow piercing eyes, but the characteristics were completely the same other wise. Instead of those yellow eyes she had lovely dark violet eyes that seemed as if she carried the world within a single glance.

"I'm going to kill you." This lady said.

Mari was tired but not tired enough to allow a fragile lady like the one in front of her to do any serious harm to her.

"Stop. Kneel." Said Mari.

She threw those words out to the lady that was inches away from grappling Mari. Those same words had weight and carried her will, it was much like when she commanded the undead servants to pay for their crimes.

Since that earlier moment she began to understand that her words that carry weight had a certain feeling. She felt as if her hands were coming from the sides of her and forcing things to act for her. This was energy manipulation that would stretch from Mari and exert itself onto others.

"How did you do that?" Asked the angry lady.

"Don't worry about it. First tell me why you attacked me." Said Mari.

"Because you imprisoned me in here and did awful things to my friends inside."

Mari peeked through the open door. What she saw was not pretty. Mari could tell why the lady that attacked her was giving off such a peculiar energy. The friends of the lady in front Mari were beaten senseless and lady groveling on the floor. It was a lot less blood in the floor than the house where all the villagers met their end.

"Are they still alive?" Asked Mari.

"How should I know? You did this to them!" The lady yelled.

"Okay first I did not do such a thing. Second I took care of all the villagers and freed you. Third you owe me for saving you and your friends from unspeakable actions." Declared Mari.

The two ladies bickering in front of the house was causing a loud scene. This was enough to alert the other ladies inside, those that were still breathing, to crawl forward.

"Please- she needs help." Said one of the ladies near death.

Mari saw her in the corner of her eye and left the Vola look alike kneeling at the front of the door.

"Hey don't leave me here. Let me get back up!"

"Don't speak." Said Mari.

With those words the Vola look alike was quiet and trying desperately to murmur a single word.

"Lady, who needs help." Asked Mari.

She walked inside the house and approached the groveling lady who was beaten so severe that her body was purpled like that of a blue berry.

The blueberry lady threw out a finger with all her might and pointed towards a body that was laying face up in the corner of the house.

The house was a simple four walls and a roof. There was no windows and it was completely empty. It seemed to Mari that the villagers have done this for before.

The lady that was laying face up in the back corner furthest from the door was hyperventilating. She wore a tattered white sun dress and seemed to have been the least lucky lady in the house as of far.

"Speak." Said Mari.

Those words urged this lady to gather the strength to talk through her traumatic and near death experience.

"Death. I see death." She said.

"What do you mean?" Mari asked.

"The water. Death." The lady spoke but could not be forced to say anything else.

The lady that was laying down with a tattered dress had the stains of the puddle that Mari discovered earlier. It seemed as if the lady in front of her had recently fallen into a puddle because of the tracks that were left on her body.

"I see." Mari said.

Mari looked at this strange lady with curiosity. She wondered how the mysterious puddle would affect a human. That was if these illusions were in fact acting like humans. There was still many questions that Mari had to discover and yet so many of those questions remained unanswered. As of right now she simply wondered what would happen to this lady. She did not feel sympathy but instead felt an urge to wonder what might happen next. This was not like Mari and she had only glimpsed at the subtle difference she was displaying. The changes within Mari was in truth much more deep than she expected.
