Chapter 30: Celebratory Feasting

Trying to ignore the weight of the collar around her neck and the rage in her belly, Serine walked through the halls of the mansion. She passed through a decorative archway and glanced up at the paintings on either side as she kept her pace. Both were of Isaiah, standing in triumph over a fallen figure. Serine's gaze passed quickly over the images, not recognizing any other faces.

The wing she entered was one she hadn't visited before. The entrance was near Isaiah's meeting room and was mostly for his personal use. The walls were decorated in his preferred style with dead, stuffed animal heads every few feet, weapons from ages long past, and various golden statues sitting on pedestals.

Serine pulled her attention away from the gaudy displays and focused on the open double doors she approached. The room was brightly lit, the light spilling into the hall, and the sound of laughter greeted her ears. She took a deep breath before stepping into the light.
