Chapter 11: A Glass Half Full

Brad sighed with relief when he stepped into his kitchen. He set his keys, wallet, and phone on the white marble island and went to the cupboard for a glass. He felt like he’d fallen off a roof and then been hit by a stampede of rhinos.

He paused by the fridge and smiled wryly. The irony of the last twenty-four hours made him shake his head.

Brad stuck the glass under the water dispenser in his fridge. He looked around his home and sighed with pleasure. Nori's voice reminded him that he wasn't alone. His face contorted into a grimace and he sipped his water.

“Woah, nice pad.”

The flat was decorated in a Scandinavian, Nordic style. White and beige walls, with pale wood floors, light streamed through the giant windows and filled the apartment with sunshine. Small in-ceiling light fixtures gave a soft glow and modern gray linen furniture was artfully placed to create an open, airy environment.
