Chapter 35: Temper, Temper

Brad sat silently across from Eva. She took a seat and they studied each other.

Eva was in her early forties, average height, and she had cropped, straight, black hair with red highlights. Her simple makeup was impeccable. She wore a subdued red lipstick and a black pantsuit with a crisp, white button-down blouse and sensible black shoes. Red nail polish complemented her mocha skin.

“Mr. Holmes,” she said, “I assume you are wondering why I dragged you in here.”

Brad was silent, but he leveled a steely gaze at her, which to his surprise she matched.

Eva continued, “I understand you run a very successful shipping company. What products do you ship?”

“I want my phone call and I’m not talking until my lawyer gets here. Where is Eleanor?”

Eva ignored his question, “You're not under arrest. But your lawyer’s on the way. If you cooperate, things will be much easier for you.”
