Chapter 37: Happy Happy Moose Day

“What do you mean there’s no vacancy?!” Brad tried to push the brewing anger down.

“Sorry my dude, we're all full,” said the desk clerk.

He was a young, scruffy man wearing a green beanie. An unlit cigarette dangled from his lip and he casually played with a yellow lighter in his hand, leaning back in his chair.

“Your sign says vacancy,” growled Brad.

Midnight had come and gone. They were about halfway to Yellowstone, but Brad was having a hard time keeping his eyes open. He’d spotted a motel and had pulled in.

Nori was still asleep in the passenger seat.

“The "no" hasn't worked for months. Do you see that empty board behind me. No keys, means no rooms. There’s a B&B about a mile down the road. You can book it on your phone,” said the clerk, “That’s the best solid I can do ya man.”

Brad did a quick search on his phone. He found the house in question and tried to make a reservation. It was booked too.

“Seriously? Is this the only motel around here?"
